seems interesting, but the video looked like the GT550m was having spikes when pumping borderlands at what I assume to be native resolution. Lots of speakers and loads of ventilation ports are promising though

I didn't see spikes, but I noticed she made a mistake describing the esata port. It is a combo esata/usb port. I think this laptop has a lot of promise and I would love to see some reviews and a price point on it.

Looks like a slightly bigger, less powerful M14x. Don't fancy the GT 550M's chances at bringing a good performance at 1080p. Not a big fan of the GT series personally, even though the 550M is at the high end of the range.

They were playing a video trailer of Borderlands, it was not actual gameplay.

The GT 550M is a GT 540M at a higher stock clock and is beaten quite sorely by the M14x's GT 555M. Think 96 CUDA Cores @ 740 Mhz versus 144 CUDA Cores @ 590 Mhz; the Gigabyte can't match Alienware in graphical prowess. The person in the video didn't play Borderlands; it was a video. That said the GT 550M is definitely capable of 1080p video output, though playing Borderlands... that may pose a challenge.

I ordered one of those but cancelled due to quite a fee mix ups... though I was very impressed with its quality & design.

As of personal preference, go for black! The others were too striking for me :)
