HEL-80 does not restore after lid close "Stand By"

I've set my power options such that when I close my lid, the system is supposed to go into "Stand By". However, whenever I reopen my lid, I cannot get the HEL-80 to restore. I've tried moving my mouse, pushing every key, etc... nothing. I've tried briefly pressing the power, but that does nothing as well.

The only thing I can do is hold the power button down for a while, then let go, which then turns off the power light on the power button and the front of the laptop. I can then press power again and the system reboots from scratch.

Is there a BIOS upgrade I'm needing? It's pretty frustrating to not be able to close my lid, move my laptop, and re-open the lid and continue from where I left off.

    Thank you for any input!

P.S.-- I am running WinXP, which came with my Compal. All Windows updates have been installed.

tritium_pie, there are a few threads on this subject in the Compal forum. I think a quick search under standby or black screen should bring them up quickly.

You need a MS hotfix to correct this problem. There is also a link to the file in my HEL80 review.

    Here you go:

Scroll down to the laptopvideo2go link. That's the file you need.

Anyone know where else to get this hot fix. The laptopvideo2go site is no longer there and Microsoft doesn't have the download on their site.
