Hey guys, I've had my HEL80 for.. coming up on 2 years now, and its only given me a few minor problems. Recently I've ran into a reoccuring problem that involves the power adapter. Normally, when the computer is on, the power adapter works fine.

Sometimes, though, when I put the computer in sleep mode and leave it alone for a while, I return to see that the power adapter is blinking, as well as the green LED on the computer. When I first turn the computer back on, the screen gets brighter and darker because of the power saving feature. To fix it... well I don't really know what I do, but it usually involves turning the computer back on, changing wall sockets, and removing and reconnecting the power adapter to the computer. At first I thought I was somehow damaging the wall sockets, but they still work even after the power adapter starts blinking in one.

I have checked the cord on my power adapter and the only place where I see trouble is right near the power connector to the computer. During these past to years, with moving my computer around and stuff, the wire appears to have twisted right between the connector and circular power thing. Instead of that little piece of wire being smooth, its bumpy and irregular, so I think that is the source of the problem. It is working for the time being but I think eventually the power adapter will fail.

Should I purchase a new one? Should I order the specific HEL80 power adapter or can I get a generic one from a store?

Where did you buy your HEL80?

If you bought from powernotebooks.com. your laptop may still be under warranty. The PowerPro line comes with 3 years of warranty. I am not sure if the power adapter is covered under that warranty though.
