    Hey guys,

I've been experiencing an odd issue lately involving flickering with an external monitor. I think it has something to do with the power adapter.. because when it is plugged in to AC power the external screen has a subtle flickering (at it hurts my eyes), yet when my laptop ISN'T plugged into AC power it doesn't flicker at all. I would be fine with unplugging the AC power except for the fact I want to use the external monitor to play games, which sucks without AC power.

I have my laptop plugged into a power strip which is plugged into one wall slot, and the monitor is plugged into the other wall slot right next to it. Is there anything I can do here to get rid of the screen flickering without unplugging my AC power?

It's a problem with the grounding level, you'll have to either plug both of them on the same power strip, or plug both of them direclty on the wall socket to solve the problem.

Using a 3 prong to 2 prong adapter also works.

I've got the same problem as csinth, even tho I've plugged my notebook and monitor in the same power bar. The only ''fix'' that works would be the 3 prong to 2 adapter, which cat mom suggested, but I'm worried that it might fry the monitor if a power spike was to happen.

I just make sure it is getting power through a surge protector and hope for the best.

Hello everybody. I had the same problem. A Compal HEL80 plus a Samsung 2053bw. I resolve it by plugging each one in differents plugs.

Please try it and let me know the results ;) .
