Hello
I am having a problem with HEL80 going into standby mode after a few minutes at the Windows XP logon screen.
I have the system set to display the "Ctrl+Alt+Del to start logon" box.
Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but the system is set to only go into standby if the lid is closed. Hibernation has been disabled. I also have the system set as "Home/Office Desk" in power schemes. I have checked in the BIOS to see if there is a setting there. I have checked the registry settings for winlogon. I have also used powercfg.exe to set the power scheme (see attachment), but the HEL80 still goes into standby mode after a couple of minutes if no one logs on. As far as I can tell nothing should be making the system go into standby mode at logon, yet it does anyway.
Any thoughts?

when the hard disks turn off, doesn't it go into standby anyway? Try turning off everything in the power menu and see if it still does (no monitor off after some time, no hard disks off). Check your motherboard temperatures (it would be odd if high temperatures caused standby mode, but you never know). Sorry I can't be of more help, those are just the ideas that immediately popped into my head.

Thank you for your help.
I have the HEL80 setup to turn off the monitor and hard disk after ten minutes. After I have logged on to Windows the system won't go into standby (unless I close the lid of course) even after the hard disk stops spinning.
I have the system set up to prompt for a hard drive password (not a great security measure, but more to annoy anyone who might steal it). I noticed that the HEL80 with go into standby after a few minutes at this prompt as well - before the operating system has even loaded. This makes me believe it is a system thing, but there is no setting in the BIOS about it. I am strongly leaning towards a hardware problem. -
Does it happen while on battery? Does it happen if you use different outlets? Try both.
Try taking the battery out, and see if it still does it. also go into the BIOS menu, and just let it sit there, and see if it still does it. Try a OS reinstall. If none of those work, hopefully you're still on warranty, so you can RMA it.
