Hi, I have a Compal HEL80 and the adapter went bad, so
I bought a new one, but ended up paying a lot of money. Long story short my uncle's dog got to it because it had this attractive glowing light, and now it's shorted out as well. He offered to buy me a new one, but he tried to save himself some money and it doesn't work. I'm so ignorant when it comes to voltage and stuff. Can someone tell me what I need so we don't make the same mistake again...or maybe it was just the connectors - I'm not sure. Two seemed to fit, but then again neither one could have been right.
Anyway, here is what I have now. (Not the one I would have chosen) It looks and feels cheap.

Thanks for the help.

Here you can find the right one:
http://www.buy.com/prod/compal-hel80-hel-80-new-ac-power-adapter-supply/q/loc/101/209133718.html
It also works with lots of other computers from Asus, MSI, Gateway, HP, etc. -
I just received that adapter above and it did not work!
How can I tell if I caused a short from using the other one before I try to exchange this?
