Hello, this is my first post, love the forums, and found them very helpful when shopping for a laptop.

I was lucky enough about a month ago to get a matte WSXGA hel80, and i really like it, especially the wsxga screen (sorry to those who missod out).

Unfortunately, due to shipping errors and miscommunications and such, i didn't get the wireless card for it till a couple weeks ago, when the thing didn't work and intel couldn't fix it, i rma'd it, got a second, and same thing.

So on to my actual problem:

I have an Intel 3945abg (two actually), and the both demonstrate same behavior, in the wifi pcie slot they are recognized by windows, but despite what drivers i use (ones from compal cd/intel website ones intel told me to use) i get a "Code 10" error in device manager (device cannot start). In the bluetooth pcie port, they don't even get recognized. At intel's request (btw, intel has best tech support i've ever seen or heard of) i updated my bios to 114b, but still no luck. I believe my pcie controller is just dead, but have been unable to get a response from compal. I haven't tried contacting the retailer, because i figure they won't be able to replace a wsxga model anymore, and i think they had a 15 day limit on rma's.

If anyone has any idea how to fix this, or how to reach compal, it would be much appreciated. I guess i could live w/pc card wireless (yuk), but no bluetooth? no wireless switch? and that i paid full price and should have a working unit...

    Thanks for your time,

    Will

Sometimes you can stretch those "15 day returns" if you make it clear that you have had trouble tickets opened with another company.

I just looked around and all I can find for VBI system's is stuff that says "warranty through manufacturer". Does that mean Intel for the VBI? or still compal? Maybe you could call up Intel support again and ask them for the phone numbers?

    that's a good idea, i'll call intel....

btw this is the response i got from rjtech

I'm not sure what reinstalling windows will do for me... does anyone think that sounds like it has a chance in hell of fixing it, cause this is my 2nd windows install so far, and i've been using it for like 2 weeks, and it's really a pain to reconfigure the fingerprint software and stuff.

Also, on an unrelated note, does anyone know what the deal is with the camera drivers, they've never seemed to work right for me (has options for taking pics/video, but greyed out. camera works in windows scanner and camera wizard though)
