no its doing it when I'm in windows, and using the computer... It does it also when I turn the computer on, but thats for checking if there is anything in to cdrom drive....thats not a problem...

the problem is when I'm using the computer in windows xp... then it does it suddenly constantly..

I had similar problem because of the MS windows genuine advantage validation software.... I found two ways to bypass this: integrate all updates except WGA in the distribution (using nLite and Ryan's update pack for example) and disable and forget about automatic updates or move to Vista or Windows 7 beta, that is free for now. :)

automatic update has being off for a while, but no changes... what do your mean with integrate all updates except WGA in the distribution?

I hate the way windows vista works... soo no thanks... the only thing I like about vista is the look.. and Windows 7 beta, is not good enough yet..

    http://www.ryanvm.net/msfn/updatepack-sp2.html
    What you need is Post-SP2 Update Pack 2.2.5 January 18, 2009 50.7MB
by default WGA doesn't come integrated, it comes in separate addon. Use RyanVM Integrator or nLite to integrate it.
