HEL80:Can't set external monitor as primary

I'm running XP Home with a Dell 2208WFP for an external monitor.

Can't set the external as primary in either the windows setting (it's greyed out) or in the NVIDIA control panel (it reverts back to the laptop screen on apply)

I've tried with the original drivers and the latest drivers, with the same results.

I know it can be done, I had it working on my old HD, but I lost the settings when I reinstalled windows.

I'm thinking I applied some sort of fix. I've checked the BIOS, and google searched with no avail.

Any ideas?

I figured it out, thought I'd post here to help others.

I can set the external to primary if I use the drivers from http://laptopvideo2go.com/ probably because they're for the desktop versions.

Shouldn't you post in the DELL forum, perhaps there you will be more successful in getting an answer. I personally don't have two monitors arrangement, but I will ask around.
