Is your room warm? Does the laptop have good airflow around it? What about your CPU temperatures? Does it just happen when you move the mouse, or is it when you run a game or something demanding?

I bought mine from the same store and it works fine. I'd suggest you send an email to multitronic ([email protected]) and ask if this behaviour is normal, and if they're willing to take a look at and possibly fix/exchange your laptop. Their support is usually excellent.

Room warm is about 22 degrees. How to find CPU temperatures? Yes, if move mouse rapidly or surffing website, thats make fan flow. If i do anything, no fan flow.

    GPU temperatures 69 degrees.

Hmmm. Do you mean, your fan doesn't flow like my laptop?

Now fan flow, stops, flow, like before, even do anything.

Every HEL-80 does that. Only not every 10 seconds. More about every minute.

I move only mouse right to left about two minutes, fan flow about 20sec, pause 2-30sec, pause 15sec..... Is that normal?

Please, tell me, if you only move mouse like me, does fan flow like mine?

I like to know, what it normal flow and how long? And how easily fan should flow, do i have to play something, or is enought if you write something, or just surffing?

Right now mine fan flow, stops, flow, when only write this.

I would say you are all experiencing normal fan activity. To me the fan is so quiet that I don't even notice it unless the room is absolutely silent and I have no noise going.

Considering the power of this system though, compare the sound to a comparable desktop's fan noise.

My desktop fan is actually more silent than the one in my laptop :p . But my desktop fan is on all the time, my laptop fan isn't.

Now i use torrent- program, fan flow 4-6 times one minute. Is that normal?

Slowest flow is about second and minimum pause between two second. Is that normal?

Why fan just flow many seconds, why it stop and starts so many times in minute....

Yeah it is kind of annoying for me, I guess I will download a program to monitor and control it.

I contacted Donald from Powernotebooks.com about this issue. After following his instructions and using a CPU temp reader, I noticed that my fan at least comes on as soon as one of the processors hit 54 degrees (celsius). He said that this is what helps keep the computer unusually cool. Also, I asked whether or not there was a way to set the CPU temp threshold higher, but he advised against it. So, I guess people have to make sacrifices.

I for one, will now just smile about this knowing that my notebook runs cool and should not have any problems with overheating. :D

Well, it would be cool if there was away to set the tresholds. Normally I would be okay with the fan noise, but there are times I'd rather have the heat than the fan sound.

I'm glad that this problem doesn't bother me. I have had hotter and louder laptops in the past, so this one is great for me.

I don't even hear the fans at all unless the room I'm in is completely silent...which is pretty rare ;).

I would also recommend against changing the fan program against the systems orignal design. It may result in negative results.

Hmm, I don't think it would cause any problems. There are laptops with other fan programs (higher tresholds) and they don't explode or anything (ok, Dells might ;) ).

It's a choice you make. Heat or fan noise.

That is correct, it is a choice. If we had the fans come on at a higher temperature people would be complaining that it gets too hot. When we set the temperature threshold lower people complain that the fan comes on too soon.

We recognize that no matter which way we do it there will be those that aren't happy...it is just the natural order of people in the world :D

That's completely true. It's not that it bothers me that much. At first, it did. But you have to realize that it's a very powerful computer, and powerful computers tend to get hot and you've gotta cool them down once in a while. Otherwise we would be having these Macbook-issues with CPU temps around the 70°C. I've never seen my CPU temp higher than 50°C, the cooling of the laptop is very good.

Btw, it seems you know that there is a way to change the fan settings. Can it be done?

The fan schedule is written in a table in the BIOS. I do not recommend attempting to change it.

Changing the BIOS doesn't seem a good idea indeed.

I have an HGL30. The issue is not the fan noise, it's the constant switching on and off. Does the bios allow you to change the speed of the fan and the temperature range(I can't check the HGL30 right now). I'd much rather the fan be at low speed over a lower range than constantly whirring up and down. If the fan would come on at low speed from 40-50, go to a medium speed from 50-60 and then at a high speed of 60, I'd be happy. Instead, mine seems to go from 0 to medium speed at the drop of a hat.

I owned an Toshiba Tecra M3 when it first came out. It was worse. It came on and off all the time too except it sounded like a dustbuster. However, this is still bugging the heck out of me on my machine.

www.bizcom-us.com has a bios update, the hgl30 at least. It has a few changes that might fix the problem. You might look for the HEL80.

That has already been answered in another thread in this forum (Hel80 Bios Update). Please do a search before posting.

    Flashing Instructions:

    1. Plug in the A/C power adapter into the notebook.
    2. Extract the .zip files to a bootable floppy disk.
    3. Boot to the bootable floppy disk (USB floppy drive, flash drive or CD required).
    4. Type “bios.bat” and wait until it finishes flashing.

But remember, don't fix it if it ain't broke
