Hi all,
I've been lurking for a while but bought an HGL-30 a few weeks back. Half the time when I put it in hibernate mode, it goes just fine. But sometimes, I get an operating system message that says "Insufficient resources to complete the API." I've gotten this message with BIOS versions 110A and 111A. I thought my virtual memory settings were bad, but letting Windows manage it didn't help. Anyone else had a similar problem?

Sounds new to me. Can you get the exact wording of the message? Sometimes a quick google with the error message will get you some answers.
I'd also check microsoft.com to see if they have anything on that one. Windows doesn't always hibernate nicely, so there may be a fix there for you. -
You know, I should have tried that before. There is in fact a Microsoft patch for this problem with XP Home SP2. I figured since I'd completed Windows Update that I was, you know ... updated. Thanks for the whack to the side of the head.
It actually happened just when trying to stand by, not even hibernate, this morning. I just got my laptop out of my bag and boy, is it warm! -
You should post a link to the patch/kb article you used for future reference when people search these threads
And second, don't stand-by and put a computer into a bag. It's still using power in standby, and thus generating heat. I figure it was just an error of it not hibernating when you closed the lid or whatnot, but it's something my boss has done, etc. I basically just say no to standby on mobile laptops. Hibernate or nothing. Standby for desktops, or laptops that don't move, or advanced users/admins who really know what they're doing. -
Information about the problem:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909095
(in short it says that windows has difficulties with hibernating with more than 1 gb memory)
