This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    HGL-30 bare bone questions

    I have some questions-
    I'm looking to purchase a HGL-30. Out of a personal need which I can't quite explain I would like to put it together myself.
    Has anyone purchased the bare bone kit from MilestonePC ? http://www.milestonepc.com/canada/product_info.php?products_id=1538
    As I understand it I would need to separately purchase-
    Optical Drive, Hard Drive, CPU, RAM and wireless card. Am I missing something? Any body have good links to notebook parts in Canada?
    Also on the Milestone website it lists the wireless card as being PCI, yet i noticed earlier in the forum it is PCI e, could anybody just confirm that I didn't read that wrong.
    There is a mountain of info on this forum which I'd like to thank all you guys for.
    Hope somebody can steer me in the right direction....

    Not to try to dissuade you from building your own notebook, but I have my reasons for preferring a professionally built system:
