    Hi,

I have a compal HGL30 and there has been a problem recently. The LCD screen on the notebook died, now it shows just assorted lines. Even in BIOS.

If i plug in an external monitor, the image and text in BIOS looks readable, but there are some lines there as well. However, when I enter windows recovery mode, it displays everything correctly, without any lines whatsoever.

So I tried a clean installation of windows, and it works fine, on the external monitor. However, it doesn't recognize the VGA card. And trying to install VGA card drivers results in BSOD.

So I figure the problem is a hardware issue with the VGA. Is it possible to replace just the VGA card, or is it integrated in the mainboard?

Or can this kind of problem be caused by something else? Drivers, BIOS or the like?

    Thank you for any suggestions.

    Lada
