hello dear friends
just wondering if someone had experience with installing windows 7 x64 on matebook x
if there are such people, could you please suggest the direction of action and give some advices
I know that this laptop has only usb type-c ports and uefi / gpt based partitions
so, how to create usb boot drive with windows 7 usb type-c and uefi / gpt support?
where is all the windows 7 drivers for huawei internal components, such a fingerprint sensor, webcam etc
what is the best software for backup all the partitions before installing windows?
thanks in advance

Hi, saw this in related threads to my own question...
Rufus can create a Windows 7 UEFI bootable USB. I am not sure how it will handle the type C ports however.
For backup I did it with the Parted Magic CD via CloneZilla (full disk backup) and also for safety with the native Windows 7 system image backup (it will backup the EFI and system partitions, too). I was booting the CD via grub4dos and an ISO stored on a USB stick.
No idea about drivers, I have the same problem, I found a couple via the hardware IDs. -
USB 3.0 and USB 3.1 slipstreamed into .wim files in the ISO (boot.wim and install.wim)
Rufus helps in creating bootable GPT Windows 7 x64 ISO
BIOS settings >> First boot >> EFI USB Drive
Secure boot >> disable
The error is from Windows Boot Manager

Contacted for rma, hmm, they said i wasnt supposed to install win 8.1, i accept, paid 200$ for complete MoBo replacement!
UEFI SUCKS!!! -
Thanks for your advice. Now I will try to install Windows 7 only if there is "Legacy mode" support in BIOS. Ended up with MakeBook X
