Just received a Hannspree 12 inch netbook with Windows 7 Home Premium installed on hard drive. Hard drive seems to be divided into a C: drive and D: drive called "Data". C drive is quite small while D drive is much larger but appears to be empty. Anyone have this configuration and can explain what is on these two partitions? Also, if the D drive really is empty, how can I remove this partition and have just the C drive? Thanks.

If I remember correctly, mine was set with a 70G C drive and a much larger D drive. There was also a hidden recovery partition on the drive.
Drive C contains your Windows installation. Drive D is an empty partition that could be used for back up or random data storage.
Yes, the D drive is really empty and safe to remove. Here is how to do it:
1. Click START
2. Select CONTROL PANEL
3. Select SYSTEM AND SECURITY
4. Under ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS, there should be several choices. Select CREATE AND FORMAT HARD DISK PARTITIONS
This will open up the Disk Management tool.
You can select drive D, left click it and select DELETE VOLUME
After it's been deleted, you can select drive C, left click it and select EXTEND VOLUME and follow the instructions. You might need to reboot for the task to complete.
I would recommend keeping the recovery partition in case you need to do a recovery of your computer in the future.
After it's done, when you select COMPUTER from the start menu, you should see only the C drive with a lot more space available.

Thanks very much. That's just what I was looking for. Tried to contact Hannspree technical support to get an answer, but so far no response.

Yeah, I don't expect too much from Hannspree as far as technical support. Great build for a laptop though, and they have kept up to date on the drivers too. Probably hired an intern to keep the drivers updated, so doesn't know any better.
