    I know...I know...why would you?

I am just curious how a single hd3870 stacks up against a single 9800m gts.

From what little information I can find, a single ati is about 7-10 percent slower than a single 9800gts, but I have only seen on benchmark for the single ati card.

    much lower than that:

    Single 3870 + X9100 OC'd to 3.3ghz gets around 9100-9200 and I got 7328 on my system with the 2nd card removed.

With that said. Do you think the extra 3870 is worth the 230 or how ever much depending on where you are getting it.

You have to realize around 80%+ improvement in performance for $230

Well, in some games like FC2 and UT3, it's almost a 100% increase. It depends on the game, but overall, its around that figure, maybe less seeing that older games like Crysis don't fully make use of Multi-gpu configurations.

Oh, ok. I see. then i guess i have to wait longer to get the whitebook. i didnt think that the crossfire made a big difference. maybe 40 percent max. average 20. Ive seen benchmarks but only with crossfire. so i said. knock a few points down and thats a single card.
