I've talked to a Zepto representative and they will ship to the U.S. You can pay in U.S. dollars or Euros, they do have U.S. keyboards and U.S. power supplies. The 24 month included service warranty still applies.

The only thing he didn't know about was Customs charges.

For anyone that has shipped a Zepto (or other laptop) into the US:

What Customs charges / fees did you have to pay?
Are there any forms you had to fill out?
Anything other issues importing the laptop?

    Thanks in advance

Are you sure that the PSU will still work. In America they use a different type of current and a different voltage. Still I suppose that's what the transformer is for????

Anyway customs charges are usually minimal but not always non-existant. For a package like that you'd be very unlucky if they charged a tenner. Hope this helped!

The PSU will be no problem. The PSU of all laptops I have seen have an input of 100-220V so it can be used anywhere in the world. Only thing that would be different for the different countries is the cable between the wall socket and the PSU since the wall socket will have different shap plugs depending on country. Even if you get a wrong shaped plug I wouldnt consider it a big problem since adapters are availalbe at every hardware store for a few cents.

Yeh, adapters are easy to get. I know that there's an AC to DC adapter in every PSU but I doubt that this would work properly if it is fed DC in the first place if it is designed for AC but is this a big enough problem to worry about? It could easily be replaced and I don't think the internal components would be effected that much.

I am not sure what you are talking about here.... You always need AC do DC. Doesnt matter if you are in europe, america or anywhere else. Only thing that changes is the AC input voltage and like I said above the notebook adapters can handle 100-240V.

I think there's an "official" review of the 6214W here on notebookreview, and the reviewer got the laptop shipped to canada for his review, maybe you can try to find the review and contact whoever wrote it

i already had a heated debate with someone on another post about difference in voltage. i came to the conclusion that it shouldn't be a problem, which was confirmed by zepto. They said that they have US adapters and everything, thats not the issue, its how much overall will the cost be. I don't want a huge hassle with customs :\

but i've also pretty much decided to not get a zepto cuz of the new macbook pros :)

This is exactly right. I think, however, that Zepto covered the shipping on that one--so getting the precise amount may be very difficult--short of contacting the Customs Office yourself and asking about importing a notebook from Europe worth x-dollars.

I'd be a little concerned with servicing a European notebook though. It would be a real pain to have to ship to Europe to utilize the warranty. You'd probably be better off just paying for your own repairs at a local PC shop--which is never as good as getting it serviced by the guys who know the system.
