As the title suggests, I have a serious problem. Recently my 6224W suffered some malfunction and it wouldn't boot Vista. I tried repairing it using the OEM CD , that didn't work and weirdly I was informed that my HDD is completely empty... nothing is installed on it. Ok so I try a fresh install of Vista... everything goes fine until the computer boots up again where it says that the installation cannot continue because the registry is missing or is corrupt.

Does anyone know something that can help me? I can't even install Vista.

    Thanks

Digev, did you clean your HDD before re-installing Vista again?
I assume you don't mind running a program that will totally erase any file left on your HDD.
If so, make a bootable CD with KillDisk bootable ISO image.
At least you will have a clean HDD to start with.

I formated the HDD when it gave me the option before installing. I even deleted it and recreated. I'll see if this KillDisk works.

    Thanks.

It shouldn't be necessary to wipe the HDD: If Vista finds a previous installation on the HDD it puts everything (Windows, program files and user files) in a folder called old.windows.

I wonder if there is a HDD problem, in which case download and run the HDD manufacturer's diagnostics. But first reset the BIOS in cause there is another mysterious 6x24W BIOS bug at work.

Press F2 at the BIOS splash screen (white screen with "Zepto"" to enter the BIOS. I think it is F9 to reset then F10 to save. However, before saving I suggest you go to the Security menu and disable the TPM and then the Boot menu and move the HDD to the top (if you need to boot from another device then pressing F10 a few times during the Zepto splash screen will bring up a list of boot devices). If you need AHCI enabled then that is under the Intel > ICH menu.

Ok, I finished using KillDisk to completely erase my HDD. I freshly installed Vista, everything goes fine and after the first reboot my laptop starts-up, I skip the boot from CD, and then all I get is a black screen with a flashing "_" cursor, the screen has been like that for a while now.

P.S. I did reset the BIOS prior.

I would check the RAM next. It's possible that the Vista installer doesn't use much RAM but when you load vista properly it uses more RAM and hit an error.

I think there's a RAM test software on Zepto's website.
