I know it , it is very popular in Japan , and they have one of the best LCDs in laptops.

But their customer service is not free(they charge for a call) so I don't like the company.

Any way, there are many computer companies that never sell theirs out side of Japan, NEC, EPSON, Mouse-computer, Shokousha , Frontier, eX-computer,Pasokon-Koubo,So-tech,Sharp and many more.

Also, there are many so-called "shop-brand" computers there that are fully customizable computers made by big computer shops in Akibahara or Nihonbashi, these are very interesting and cheap.

NEC is an old company , the real company name of it is Nihon Electronic corp, started building its own computer from 1979 or 1980.
