I am considering getting a HEL 80 and am very concerned about this potential problem on this laptop. It was brought to my attention by Chrisyano in another thread I started on the what should i buy board that here are several possible fixes. I thought it would be more appropriate to go over what they were here than in that forum. I did listen to the clip of the sound in the long thread from a while ago and if I have anything like that in a laptop I buy that would be 1000% unacceptable.
is this there for everyone and is it that some just don't notice it? Some people are more sensitive to high pitch or crackling type sounds than others.

i've tried to "hear" that problem on two systems now, and I'm not hearing anything either through built in speakers, headphones, or 5.1 speakers. I can say that I personally think the newer drivers on the bizcom site provide better sound, and that I've found the two options for recording are better left disabled for quality reasons.

I think it has to do with the headphones. Mine didn't make any of that noise, until I tried a set of headphones with a tighter fitting jack. Then I had the background noise. I recently changed to a third set of headphones, no noise.
And none coming from the speakers in any case. -
I just did a review that supposedly will get posted here very soon on Logitech Premium Notebook Headset... keep an eye out for those.. I know they are very good and work with atleast my HEL-80 no problem.
