    i got a question
is it bad that on my left wrist it gets hot enough for my hands to start sweating? or is the heat of the processor normal for this laptop?

The left wrist rest is the hottest spot on the HEL80. Considering the power of the system, it really does run rather cool. The heat is just something that comes with the power you have under the hood.

You could post temperatures if you like, but the left wrist rest is the warmest spot on the HEL80.

You could also dig around this site for information on RMClock, helps a bit... maybe also check into updating your bios... make sure to do your homework on either of these options though, they can make you unhappy if not used well

I would also try cleaning out the fan, it is pretty simple and a guide to do it can be found here. It took me about 2 minutes with compressed air, just get the fan and right where the vent meets the outside of the notebook (there should be some spongy material right there, I found a majority of the dust accumulation right there).

Yeah my left palm does get a little sweaty and warm when gaming on my GL-30, but hey, for the power that is in this baby, I don't mind it.

My solution perhaps is getting some of that non-slip stuff that you put in your cabinets to stop your plates from sliding around. I don't knkow what it's called but it's vented, squishy, and it doesnt move.

Just cut a small piece of that out and carry it in your bag, that is my plans this weekend once I get my WoW problems sorted out. I know it's really really ghetto, but they I think it will work :-D

I think that's actually where the hard drive is. The processor and GPU are near the back, under the keyboard. There's some air going through the ExpressCard slots, but it'll get hot period. Welcome to the new world of power laptops ;)

yeah, I pulled out the plastic place holders to let a little air get in there. it usualy doesn't get to warm unless I'm playing games, and even then its not bad. so far 62 degrees is the highest I've seen my gpu get, and about 55 for my cpu.
