In these warm summer days my 6224 gets abnormally hot. Right now im on battery and "power saving" my temps is: "core 1 and 2: 58 C" "gpu: 77 C", ok ok, I can guess thats probably normal.
When the powercord is plugged in, my cpu is about 80-90C, and my gpu is about 100C, this is IDLE, I don't dare to play any games. I dont think my notebook's have never been so hot.
I want to use this thread to discuss how to decrease the heat, and solve the heat issues. What can I do both physical and use of software? Should I instal the newest bios? Which nvidia driver is the best? (best; as in stable and decreasing temperatur) ANy other thing? Whats your tempreatures?
Thanks for every reply!
aaand excuse my little broken english ;D

open it up and use compressed air to blow the dust out.

1. Undervolting the CPU will reduce the total load on the cooling system. See the undervolting guide.
2. The cooling system is under the keyboard as shown here:
.
To remove the keyboard first remove three screws underneath with keyboard icon (one is under the memory compartment cover).
Then, with small flat bladed screwdriver work along the front of the keyboard levering it towards the back then lifting up slightly (the keyboard plate goes into the chassis slightly). Lifting the middle of the keyboard slightly will release the clips at the sides. Finally lift the front side clear of the chassis enough to slide the whole keyboard forward a few mm to release the back edge. Then flip the keyboard over and rest it on the palm rest.
Here's a view with the keyboard open.
These photos are for the 6024W, but the 6224W is almost the same.
Hope this helps. I'm sure the cooing system will have collected a fair amount of dirt during the past year.

A laptop cooler with fans is also a relatively cheap and very helpful investment. Did wonders for my 6214W.

Anyone considered/done any kind of cooling modifications to their 6324/6224? I have replaced the stupidly think AS5 paste Zepto uses, and I'm thinking of improving the heatsink section of the GPU cooler. The change in paste dropped my GPU's max temp whilst gaming from 102C to 92C!! I think the GPU cooler could do with a lot more fins to help keep it cool though. Anyone got any solutions/ideas? Maybe Zepto could see if the voltage could be lowered a bit for the GPU and include it in a BIOS update.

Yeah.. i have considered the same thing regarding the voltage of the gpu... and ofcourse the fan control which is way off... anyway when it comes to the 6625.. i realy hope for bios updates... soon

I have been doing a lot of searching of the net, I've found loads of people who have successfully undervolted their GPU's by about 0.5V and have seen their temps drop by at least 10C, and suffered no performance drop. It's just a shame that we have to wait for Inventec to issue Zepto with a new BIOS and then Zepto to test the bios, then try it out ourselves as the GPU bios cannot be read/modified in the usual manner (nibitor won't read mine, no matter what I try) I can't even extract the video BIOS from the system bios even though the two are "apparently" linked.

Reason= dust
Had mine cleaned one day, CPU GPU went form 86/96 to 77/86C just by that -
Could be for some. But mine is a smaller case with a crappier heatsink design.
Heat issues on my 6224, any tips and tricks are welcome!
