I've recently moved to Korea, with an HEL80 I bought in Canada. Since most of the power outlets in Korea are 220V, I had to use a converter tip to plug in my 110V adapter.
So the battery charges up no problem, but I have noticed that the aluminum parts on the laptop (namely the area surrounding the keyboard and the cover lid) started emitting some sort of electricity, or a spark. When my skin rubs against any of the aluminum parts, I can definitely feel the pinch. Even when my hand is above the keyboard by an inch or so, I still feel the pinch, albeit to a lesser extent. As soon as I unplug the laptop, the problem goes away.
Can anybody have a guess at why this problem is occurring, and if it could cause any problems in the future?

something sounds like being messed up in your power setup. I doubt it has anything to do with 220v/110v since I also use 220v and experience no such issues, tried and tested both in Poland and Sweden.
ps. also it's WSXGA+ that you probably have1680x1050

I've tried plugging the adapter in a different house today; same thing happened.
What seems to be going on? I hope I'm not frying my laptop or something :/ -
Try to get a 220V power adapter.

The "brick" is not the problem...probably your converter tip is missing ground connection. Check if the converter has ground and if not you need one that does...or get a power cord for 220v that fits your power brick connector.
