Hello, I recently tried to change my fan settings since my cpu runs hot around 55-60c idled and at around 78-85c running flash games for around 10minutes as stated by speedfan. I am an owner of Hel80 for since it came out and i must say, it was a good laptop but now everything begins to break down. The left side of my laptop where my palm lays always gets too hot, GPU is still fine even with a bit of overclock, the battery dies in an hour without plugin even with 1/7 brightness, and the built in sound is distorted on the left side as well proably due to the excessive heat. My bios version is 119b and it is strange because when i push F2 to get into the Bios setup utility screen, i have very limited options, not even any options to change fan speed, voltages, etc. Why is that is it because my system bios is shadowed? how to i enable such functionality so that i may undervolt my cpu to save it from burning to hell. Thanks in advance and i truly appreciate it any advice given.

Very rarely you will get any options in laptop BIOS to change all that stuff, DELL is one that implements that, but usually you get what you have in HEL80, maybe a bit more options.
Anyway, since HEL80 is an old model, I suspect that your warranty period is over and I sugest that you open it and clean the fan, there is most probably a lot of dust there. Then you could also update your BIOS, as far as I can remember last version is 123b, which you can download from Intel site.
For HEL80, normal temps for CPU should be 45-50C.
BTW. is your fan always on, is it loud? -
im not sure what constitutes as loud, i hear a small hum at normal usage but i do hear a powerful start up hum during boot sequence. I always keep a zalman cooler on high which generates a louder noise pollution. As for cleaning out the fans, i am about to do just that however i was curious if i was plannin to purchase and apply AS5, what is the difficulty rating for this task and the effectiveness of the outcome of such a procedure? thanks again for your previous advice, i was oblvious to the fact that laptop bios had such limited capabilities as compared to desktops.
Hel80 119b Bios has limited options strange...
