Hello, i got a Hel80 that i had to install win xp on after crash, i have installed win xp like i should do, but when i install the Graphics adapter drivers i just get a black screen after the loading screen, i looked and most of the other posts about that problem at this forum, but none of those helped me, anyone might know a reason? i installed the Geforce go 7600 version 179.48beta driver and i tried the drivers from the original Cd that i got with the Laptop. i realy whant this comp to work :D

So, only before "entering" Windows logon, you get a black screen? You do see BIOS POST, and Windows XP logo when it is loading?

Hit F8 several times after POST, select "VGA mode" from the list, remove the installed driver and install a new one - which one that might be I cannot answer, but it should not be named "beta"!.

    Good luck!

Yes i do see the bios post, but the screen get's black after the windows logon screen, and it blinks sometimes and then i see the pointer for just some seconds, but after a while i get bluescreen, and i have tried many different drivers.

Edit: Now i installed Win7 but the problem is still the same :(

Did it boot with the default drivers after install? If yes, hit f8 immediately after post to enter safe mode and then uninstall the driver you installed.

DO NOT install latest drivers for the HEL80, the driver sticky lists the stable drivers. I learned the hard way.
The most stable driver for XP is still 94.28 cant remember what I used for Win7 but my HEL80 is still dual booting between the 2 Os's fine (actually using it now).
It was more than likely a Vista driver I went through a lot to find the most stable. Since some of the newer drivers cause the 7600 graphics to overheat.
Once you find a driver that works for you, don't let windows update it since you will go back to the same problem.
There are a lot of threads related to this notebook and Win7 drivers, got through them the drivers still work plus it will help with the wireless select switch.

Well, and of course these is the chance, that your 7600 is dead - happends quite a lot, esp. after 6 years or so. It might still work in low res, but just give up in hi-res mode.

THe HEL80 has ann add-in gfx card, so it is replaceable, but it is no MXM card as far as I know.

But play around with drivers and safe-mode first, also try maybe Ubuntu from an USB stick, and see if it works - then add Linux gfx drivers, and see if that works

    Good luck!
