This notebook is sold in Japan by a reseller named DosPara / Prime PC. From the overall looks and specs it seems like an IFL 90, but with the exceptions of media buttons and the missing S-Video port on the right. Is there another Compal model which look like this Prime Note Galleria ? Or is this a costomized IFL90 ? Or perhaps not a Compal at all (which is unlikely)? BTW Prime PC is known to sell Compal models in the past i.e HEL80.

Basic Specs of Prime Note Galleria IX:
    • Core 2 Duo T7500 (configurable up to T7700)
    • Intel PM965 Express chipset
    • nVidia 8600M GT 512MB
    • WXGA+ 1440x900 Glossy Display
    • Intel 4965AGN Wireless
    • 2MP Camera and FP reader

thats the FL90 not the IFL90... different case basically and it's more bluish-gray not black and gray

and the s-vid port on the right is extra for the tv tuner card if you get it

you can get this at AVADirect.com

Its not for me, a friend of mine is looking for a decent gaming notebook here in Japan. I just looked at the price at AVADirect.com, price here is not that bad compared to that site.

Prime Note Galleria IX with the following specs costs $1270 from the store (RAM and HDD will be upgraded later)
    • T7500
    • 1GB RAM
    • 80GBHDD
    • WXGA+ 1440x900 Glossy (no other options)
    • 8600M GT 512MB
    • DVDRW
    • Intel 4965AGN
    • Gigabit LAN
    • Integrated BT
    • 56k modem
    • 2MP Camera
    • Fingerprint reader
    • No OS
    • 1Year limited warranty (+60 for 3 year Limited)

Other option is a DELL M1530, he is leaning towards the DELL for its design, besides, the price is actually better !.
DELL M1530 with the following is only $1287
    • T7500
    • 2GB
    • 160GB 5400RPM
    • WXGA 1280x800 Glossy (+$115 for WSXGA+ 1680x1050)
    • 8600M GT 256MB
    • DVDRW
    • Intel 4965AGN
    • DELL 355 BT
    • 2MP Camera
    • Fingerprint reader
    • Vista Home Premium
    • 1Year limited warranty
Actually I'm the one who told him that DELL is better  , he was earlier leaning towards the above Prime Note (because he wasn't sure about ordering online without seeing the notebook). DELL looks loads better and it comes with extras like remote, fancy media buttons, slot leading DVD etc.., only disadvantage is 256MB 8600MGT, which IMO is not a big deal. what do you guys think ?

Tell your friend to fill out the FAQ(he might want to post it in WNSIB section of the forum).

I believe the M1530 8600m GT is GDRR3 while the 512mb 8600m GT in the (i)fl-90 is GDDR2((the difference in games is a few FPS and overclockablity) so the M1530 will be a better choice if gaming is a priority and it comes with more "loaded" as you noted.

    WHAAT  ? DDR2 ? that sucks. Is IFL90 also DDR2 ?

Then I don't see any reason to get the FL90. From the benchmarks I've seen, DDR2 is roughly 25% slower in 3D marks (I know 3D mark scores cant be translated to gaming performance directly, but even so, 25% is bit too much if you ask me)

the standard FL90 is actually 256MB DDR2. the IFL90 is 512MB DDR2. then the FL90+ (the one with WXGA+ screen) has 512MB as well, I think DDR2 too. that's what we got here at least.

Do you know how much fps difference there is between them, like in a specific game?
