I am looking to buy an averatec laptop. I want a laptop to have at school with me as a second computer that will be much easier to move, and a lot more mobile than my desktop. I like the averatec laptops simply because they are so small but at the same time seem to have what i want. I was looking at the ones that best buy and circuit city buy- are these good ones? ( i am pretty much clueless when it comes to computers) and which one is better?
    also-
is there anywhere else that offers a better deal that offers financing also?
    thanks!

Sam's also sells some Averatec units. We're happy to help you pick one if you can give a little more about your intended usage.

The notebook that I'm looking at is the averatec 3220H. I will be using the notebook primarily for it's mobility, word processing, internet, etc... Some of the specs are:

Processor Brand: Mobile AMD Athlon XP-M 2000+
    Processor Speed: 1.67GHz
    System Memory: (RAM) 256MB
    Hard Drive Size: 40.0GB
    DVD-ROM/CD-RW Combo Drive Speeds: 8 max. DVD-ROM; 24x10x24 CD-RW
S3 UniChrome graphics with up to 64MB video memory
    Integrated 54g high-speed wireless LAN (802.11b/g)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
    Battery Type: Lithium-ion

This notebook will be used solely for school purposes (word processing and casual use)

    My questions ARE:

    1. Do you believe the averatec 3220H is the right notebook for me?? OR, are there any other notebooks that would satisfy my needs at a cheaper price??

    2. Will the above specifications that I have choosen allow me to use my notebook for the purposes stated above??

    3. Do you recommend any specific type of service plan??....especially for a first time relatively inexperienced user like myself???

Any feedback would be much appreciated,

    TaebsOSU

Best Buy has it for 949.99. Do you think that it is worth it to get their service plan- it is 3 years for 199.99.

This is the info that they give:
    -Parts and labor coverage
-No deductibles, no hidden charges and no out-of-pocket costs
    -No lemon policy
    -Normal wear and tear coverage
    -Power surge protection
    -Preventive maintenance on select items
