Anyone know the specs on the HGL-30 LCD, or how to ever find out such information?

like refresh? I believe the Hel80's ms refresh is 25ms. But specs have been hard to find here too. I'm guessing it's a Quanta branded lcd which i found online and probably similar specs. My link was in a thread for a guy looking to replace his lcd..

aww no 25 ms? 16 or less is what gives no ghosting. 25 ms might give ghosting. Thats wierd...ususally as lcd's get smaller the response time gets better. Usually a 24" lcd will have a 16 ms response time while a 17" will have 2ms-8ms.

The sub-12ms responses are usually in a gray-gray range, so it's not really indicative of real response times. Basically the same kinda games as Intel was playing with MHz to make them appear more attractive.
I'll poke into models and such next time I boot into Linux and figure out what brand/model it is. -

its auo optronics 25 ms response time. same as on the a8jm and several other machines. 220 nits so brighter than the average.
the screen on the hel 80 has 16 ms response time and 200 nits.
you can find it on the auo site, 14.1 inch 1280 x 800 -

I know what you mean about ghosting.. I was lead to believe the same thing and even worried when i learned the refresh rate. But these guys are probably right about it being a bunch of marketing bs in some fashion. Mulitiple reviews and topics about this have all concluded that ghosting is NOT an issue. The only difference is that an lcd will appear to render motion different than a crt. If you can live with that basic difference, I'm sure you'd be happy

Ok, this was the last issue I was even worried about with my notebook, and I had a feeling it wouldnt ghost anyway. No ghosting for Oblivion, but I figured during a faster paced game like fear it would ghost more. Thanx for laying my fears to rest

Ghosting isn't an issue with my HGL30.

I have another link.. this is more general, perhaps could be stickied in and by itself. http://www.mobilityguru.com/2006/02/24/how_to_replace_a_broken_laptop_or_notebook_display/
It's a Toms Hardware guide to replacing the LCD.. and talks about Screentek.
