    Hello!

I've got an issue with my Averatec 1020-ED1. I bought it used on ebay, the OS was quite slow and unstable, finally it broke down and I can't access it. I've copied all important files using Linux OS from a bootable CD. Now I can format the drive and reinstall it, but I have no idea how to use the hidden partition.
Should I use a combination of keys to enter the recovery utility under dos????

    Please help me.
    Best regards,
    steryd69

When it boots up, does it say anything to the effect of "press F1 to interrupt startup"? To get to BIOS setup, it will usually be some key like F1 or DEL. You want to hold it down when the computer is coming up, but before Windows starts. Averatec might use a different key, so check your manual. Also, I don't know if that will get you into a recovery partition or just the BIOS setup. Hopefully it will present you with the option of going to either one. If you do manage to get into a recovery partition, just look for an option like "restore to factory default". That should lead you into a complete restore that will get it back into the condition it was in when it was first shipped. The manual is your friend.

The recovery key is F4 pressed just as the machine is booting. This should get you to the restore partition where you can do a restore to new from the factory setup. This is assuming that partition has not been tampered with and the hdd is working correctly.
