High pitched screech

Right my laptop randomly and sometimes frequently makes a quite horrid high pitched screech sound im not going to say i dont know what it is because i have just had a new hard drive shipped to me because the old one died, the hdd my 6625 came with was a hitachi 7200rpm 120gb, the new hdd i was sent is exactly the same except for it is a Toshiba.

Now i noticed my laptop used to make a quiet chirping type sound almost constantly like there was a cricket in my laptop before my hdd died i didnt think much of it.

I got this new Toshiba and that chirping went away, i though great but now i get this random and quite violent sounding screech and the only thing that is different is the hdd.

I have no idea what this is, should i be worried?

 

I'll assume you had a Hitachi TravelStar (like I have) with an aggressive power management setting.
That would account for the 'chirping' sound which are the load/unload cycle sounds.
A violent sounding high pitched screech sounds worse though and would certainly make me worried.

Are you sure these aren't BIOS beep codes?; link. (I hope not...).
I'd contact Zepto about it anyway.

from wich part of the laptop does it come (when its open). the HDD is in the bottom right corner.

 

Its not BIOS beep codes, its like a screech that lasts for a second or less it seems completely random however im not sure. Sometimes it wont happen at all while i am using my laptop for a 4 hours session maybe and others it happens more frequent. I cant quite tell where it is coming from, except for it seems like the right hand side when my laptop is open, its hard to tell as i cant make it do it myself.

I'll give zepto a ring, just thought it may be something normal...i guess not.

 

Screeches and beeps are never normal cept if you produce it yourself or the ticking of the hdd
