I was wondering I was on the FNW website and they had a new model called the TLX, how are FNW's, do they offer more performance then other companies with the same specs? I heard for there desktop PC's they have extremely good performance and are heavlly tested, is this the same on there notebooks. Who is the ODM for the TLX. I mean a 8600GT system starting at $3500 dolars with car paint does not look that great interms of money. I mean for that money you can get the MacbookPro or even the Extremely cool HdX. So are they really worth the money?

Overpriced. You can get a Sagar, Clevo, or Asus machine with same/better performance for a lot less.

I know that, but what makes them soo good? And who is the ODM for this TLX. Plus they are soo cool but sooo overpriced.

theyre not that great

Eugnics, I have heard that a reviewing mag ran into some trouble with a Fragbook. But they do heavy testing on there systems and they get the best parts available, or is that all just garbage?

I dont doubt that they're a competent company. I'm sure the notebook that failed was just a fluke. There are always a few notebooks that fail, from any manufacturer. Thats the nature of the industry though, there are so many components, made by so many different companys, its surprising that there aren't more failures and defects than we see. It's hard to hold any of the OEM's accountable due to the fact that the blame can many times be shifted, and the general consumers dont realize that often the difference between many computers is just a name... and so the weight of the problem is shifted back on the system manufacturer itself. And i suppose thats probably best, as they're responsible for dealing with any problems the end consumer may have, regardless.
At any rate the other question is..
Do they use the best parts available? Theres no straight answer really. It's all relative, there are pro's and con's with any component they choose. For the most part though, they do. But does that make them any different from the rest of the reputable manufacturers out there? No, not really. Aside from using some higher end ram, etc.
What seperates Falcon Northwest (or should anyway) is the packaging, the service and support, and the rarity of the product. The components themselves aren't that special, they may offer a few different variations, but none are major. You can get a notebook from a few manufacturers that for the most part is internally identical, it just wont be a Falcon Northwest. It may not be as pretty, have the documentation, or support (which you pay dearly for and shouldn't have to ever use if the product is as good as they say it is).
In the end, Falcon Northwest, like Alienware, and Voodoo PC is a boutique manufacturer. Which means they have high margins, so you're going to end up paying a lot more for something that is functionally identical to its cheaper platform sibling (in many cases, clevo).
To many people thats fine(atleast enough of a market to justify so many premium vendors). But i personally dont see how any of them justify the cost, unless they just have too much money or no long term investment goals.
How Is Falcon Northwest
