I'm thinking about recommending this laptop to a friend of mine but all I am seeing are 3dmark06 scores, which, in my opinion, count for very little as the year is 2008 and quickly approaching 2009.
What are the benchmarks for gaming and intensive programs?
Also, whats the battery life like on this system?
Furthermore, if a comparison could be made, which laptop is it closest to in performance and battery life?
-
-
The closet in performance would be the Odachi (D901C)
Battery Life is 2 hours
It performs in all the games I play very well. Max settings etc. I love mine.
Which games are you looking for?
If you have any other questions I will try my best to help you out and answer. -
The latest ones, call of duty 5, crysis warhead, and any others that are graphic intensive.
Also, how is it for video encoding and decoding and modelling programs like MAYA? -
I did a test for someone and they said it was fast. I did a model based on turning a movie to an IPOD file.
-
Interesting, thanks for all your help.
Also, the battery life is better than the D901C which is a big plus. -
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
from what i have seen the performance in games isnt as good as i would expect when comparing the 3870 in crossfire what is the closest nVidia card(s) that come closest to the performance of the 3870's in crossfire?

I m getting 50 fps all maxed out with 2xAA. john is getting 56fps at WUXGA, dont know how he did that but I want that score as well
-

-
post a screen shot, or a link?
-
E-wrecked, what's the visual difference like between DX9 and DX10 in Far Cry 2? Definitely a speed diff for sure!
-
yep thats pretty low, thats with new drivers, the 180.42 gave me 50.3fps average.
-
Mastamarek its because you are running yours at 1680 x 1050 and not 1920 x 1200. And your stats are custom and not set to Ultra High.
-
-
Your screenshot says Custom setting (?) maybe because of the AA. I dont know. Not an expert just noticed it. And the 1680 x 1050 runs much faster IIRC.
-
Damm I m so unlucky. So I did another run but it felt pretty slow. I ve changed everything to ultra high and here we go:
So I was wondering why I had such low minimum score and after the benchmark finished I saw that i have my AVG scanning my pc in the backIt takes like 15min to get through the whole thing. I m not running it again today but I sure that the average fps should go to at least 56fps just like John said
-
ok..lemme drop my res and see what I pull in. Also, you had ranch short in the first one as well.. so Ill compare to this second. brb
-
-
me too, so turn aa off and what res we all running at.
-
I m running another test right now at WSXGA with 2xAA, ranch long.
-
ok, since we all can do that one...then that's what we'll run
2xaa ranch long at wsxga
edit: dx9 or 10? -
Here's my another run.
Damm, ok ignore this one. I did it on custom ....I need to redo the whole thing. It takes like half an hour to get through this whole benchmark again
PS2.
Also I think that my raid array is slowing thing here down a bit. It stopped working properly recently and I d get big slowdown in HDtune. I really want to put 3x128Gb SSD's in here so extra performance can go to the CPU. -
ok.. how bout this
Long Ranch is TOO long.
Let's try something a bit different. And, I have trouble runnin @ 1680x1050 - Maybe its the ATI driver, but it shrinks my screen..even tho in the ATI Ctrl panel it is set to fit to screen..there's something messed up with my scaling. Cause, then it makes my benchmark run off one card. Not off the crossfire. So, maybe I should compare to johns @ 1920.1200? No AA. Just run ultra high and...lemme pick a diff bench config. brb -
ok final test. WSXGA, 2xAA, Everything Ultra
-
playback action scene? Ive never run that one. I gotta install a new video driver real quick..wont take but 4-5 minutes. bear with me please.
-
Wow..impressive john.
-
John ... how did u do that ??
is that with QX9650?? did o overclock it? I have a regular 9650 and it runs the same clock as the QX so how did u get 10fps difference ?
-
thanks guys, but it's just a few friends testing out systems here.
not sure marek, but i do know that when i was running the q9550 i was getting way lower scores i think. -
Nice scores guys.
Far Cry 2 has a bug with 8800 series GPU. Lots of posts on ubisoft board. SLI is not working in DX10 for 8800 series
