I'm thinking about recommending this laptop to a friend of mine but all I am seeing are 3dmark06 scores, which, in my opinion, count for very little as the year is 2008 and quickly approaching 2009.

What are the benchmarks for gaming and intensive programs?

Also, whats the battery life like on this system?

Furthermore, if a comparison could be made, which laptop is it closest to in performance and battery life?

The closet in performance would be the Odachi (D901C)

    Battery Life is 2 hours

It performs in all the games I play very well. Max settings etc. I love mine.

Which games are you looking for?

If you have any other questions I will try my best to help you out and answer.

The latest ones, call of duty 5, crysis warhead, and any others that are graphic intensive.

Also, how is it for video encoding and decoding and modelling programs like MAYA?

I did a test for someone and they said it was fast. I did a model based on turning a movie to an IPOD file.

Interesting, thanks for all your help.
Also, the battery life is better than the D901C which is a big plus.

Well..heres FC2 @ Max settings all the way around, and native res @1920x1200 - Ranch, long - DX10, not DX9.

That's the first run I have tried since my new drivers. I'll try some other games.

I would say the the Gateway F7811FX comes close to gaming performance of that OCz and is 3x cheaper. If u want a real performance laptop get a sager 9262 if u wan to play 3dmark06 get the OCZ.

you're also running DX9 with a cfg mod, correct? Cause the ones I just posted are fresh, no .cfg used.

Mastamarek its because you are running yours at 1680 x 1050 and not 1920 x 1200. And your stats are custom and not set to Ultra High.

They are all ultra high, no custom crap, no overclocking - everything is stock. My screen is only WSXGA and I m running 2xAA.

Your screenshot says Custom setting (?) maybe because of the AA. I dont know. Not an expert just noticed it. And the 1680 x 1050 runs much faster IIRC.

Damm I m so unlucky. So I did another run but it felt pretty slow. I ve changed everything to ultra high and here we go:
So I was wondering why I had such low minimum score and after the benchmark finished I saw that i have my AVG scanning my pc in the back :D :D It takes like 15min to get through the whole thing. I m not running it again today but I sure that the average fps should go to at least 56fps just like John said :)

    DX10:
    Here's my another run.

Damm, ok ignore this one. I did it on custom .... :( I need to redo the whole thing. It takes like half an hour to get through this whole benchmark again :(

    PS2.

Also I think that my raid array is slowing thing here down a bit. It stopped working properly recently and I d get big slowdown in HDtune. I really want to put 3x128Gb SSD's in here so extra performance can go to the CPU.

    ok.. how bout this
    Long Ranch is TOO long.

Let's try something a bit different. And, I have trouble runnin @ 1680x1050 - Maybe its the ATI driver, but it shrinks my screen..even tho in the ATI Ctrl panel it is set to fit to screen..there's something messed up with my scaling. Cause, then it makes my benchmark run off one card. Not off the crossfire. So, maybe I should compare to johns @ 1920.1200? No AA. Just run ultra high and...lemme pick a diff bench config. brb
