Funny thing is, when you buy a 2 year extended warranty from PC Mall, it seems the first year of that warranty is useless because you have to use Averatecs warranty first. So what is the point of the first year of extended warranty? Just had a blazing row with PC Mall about that. Anyway, they said that maybe the Averatec warranty only covers both parts and labor for the first 90 days, after which time it's just parts. In which case I'd be able to use the extended warranty. I don't know what Averatec's policy on parts/labor/90 days is until I call them, and I can't get through tonight.

So anyway, does anyone have any experience with sending back to Averatec for repair? I need my hard drive replaced and I'm worried I'm going to be without a computer for 3-4 weeks (unthinkable) and whether or not it's going to come back with the same problems (another thing I've heard).

The guy at PC Mall mentioned that maybe Averatec contracts out repair work to places like Circuit City etc, in which case living in Manhattan I'm bound to be near a repair center. But I can't yet find this out until I talk to Averatec (unless anyone here knows)
