I'm just wondering. I ordered my HEL80 shell about two months ago and Bizcom Canada seems to be taking their sweet time. They seem to have plenty of EL80s in stock, but no HEL80s. Which raises the question... has anyone done RMA with Bizcom in Canada? And if so, how long was the turnaround time?

Two months? I'd be raising all kinds of personal levels of hell for each person that I could con into answering the phone until some solution was offered with compensation for your wasted time. Does Canada have anything like here in Oregon where you can't be billed without services or product ship-ready?

Well, we haven't been billed for it yet since it's being ordered through the computer store where I work. It's just that the lousy thing is backordered, which is kinda odd for a mainstream barebones model (the VBI seem plenty available in the hundreds, though). It's understandable that it would take a few weeks, but as far as product cycle goes, a delay like this is ridiculous if a laptop is supposed to have a relatively quick turnaround time. Then again, I guess the sale side and the service side are completely different, but it makes you wonder about supply of service parts vs. supply of sales parts...

It could just be the distributor your store is going through. There really shouldn't be any supply issues with the HEL80 by now.

Of course, we're talking about the Canadian market. Perhaps the fact that they have a lot of EL80s in stock has something to do with it--perhaps they're hesitant to bring in the non-VBI thinking that they can force the VBI on buyers if it's all that's available.
