I know there are some readers here from companies that sell laptops. How long should a person wait before they start bugging the vendor about a RMA. It's been 3 weeks since they signed for and received it and I haven't heard a word from them. I had to return my IFL90 because it was missing the s-video and antenna ports and wires. The vendor's supplier said it was a factory screw up and I should send it back to have it corrected.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Definitely call them tomorrow (or the next business day).
I personally would call after 1 week after they received the laptop -
I agree, you should have already received the laptop, did you buy it from rjetch.com or hypersonic?
-
It's a little late to ask this, but do you remember if the TV Tuner showed as installed in Device Manager? If so, all you needed to do was peel off the plastic cover that is over the TV Tuner S-Video and Antenna ports.
Those ports are "there" on every IFL90, but since they're only active with a tuner installed, they are usually covered over.
On topic, our factory and Sager have a policy that they will not discuss an RMA for the first three business days after receiving the notebook, as they feel status updates can distract the technician from actually REPAIRING your computer. After those first 4 business days (one to receive, three to repair), however, they're more than happy to give status updates. If it's been 3 weeks since it was received, it's definitely time to request an update. -
I think the connectors are there but the cables weren't.
-
Thanks for the replies but there was nothing under the sticker. Just 2 empty holes in the side of the case where the connections should have been mounted. The wires or cables that connected to the TV card were also missing. The card worked if I ran the antenna cable that came with it out of a cover on the bottom of the laptop.
I bought it from excaliberpc.com and on their website it shows that it is in "testing". ??? -
I would be worry if I were you, something major is affecting that mobo, I would not accept the same mobo, I would demand that they give you a bran new mobo, and if they make your life miserable, at least I would try to get an upgrade and don't pay the full price for all the inconvinience caused to you.

The laptop worked great. I updated the BIOS to 116 before I installed Vista U and I had absolutely no problems with it. It was just missing some wires and connectors on the case. I offered to install the missing parts myself, if they sent them to me, but they said that would void the warranty.

Then keep waiting.
-
To expand a bit on Wirelessman's last comment...keep waiting, but ask them for a detailed status. 3 weeks seems a little excessive.
-
Yeah, I think the laptop has more than one issue, that's why I think they should just replace it.
-
Don't wait to long, or the notebook is lost and never found back again.
-
If it gets lost then they have to replace it, which is an excellent thing.
-
I tried a phone call this morning, but I was too early for their store hours. I then sent an email, because they like everything in writing any way, and I haven't heard from them yet.
-
Are you still waiting?
-
They said it wasn't ready yet and was still at the manufacturer. But they were going to try and hurry them up. So I guess this means I still don't know anything. I want to avoid a blow up, like we saw yesterday, by being patient and understanding.
I also inquired about getting it upgraded to a SRR if it isn't already, but haven't heard back about that either. -
I agree, is better to wait patiently, I sent two e-mails for my laptop being repaired, and they just answered today, it looks like hypersonic got bought by another company so they are in a transition mode now, so somethings are getting neglected, but anyway, since I've been patient they've told me that they will be trowing in some t-shirt, poster and even a flash memory, that's the way to go.

Finally my vendor got it worked out with the supplier. The supplier "fixed" on it for 2 weeks and returned it to the vendor without the missing connections in the chassis. The vendor sent it back and after another week they got it back with new accessories pack, but no TV chassis connectors. It went back to the supplier a third time and this time my vendor got back a new FL90 with no TV connectors on the chassis. This time it went back and the supplier issued a credit and I ordered FL92 just like the FL90 except it doesn't have the TPM chip. It was well worth waiting patiently. So far everything is working as it should. Thanks for all the input for this problem.

Which processor did you get?
-
The X9000 Penryn

Wow, you will rambo man, let us know about your performace, post the WEI.
-
The WEI from top to bottom is: 5.6, 5.0, 4.5, 5.2, and 5.4. I'm still using Vista Ultimates default drivers. Updating some of those might improve the WEI. At the present, I stuck in a different hard drive to test Ubuntu.

The numbers seem too low, what is you complete configuration?
How long should I wait?
