Can someone give me some directions on how to apply this onto the heatsink for the cpu. I have upgraded the ram but never paid attention as to where the cpu was if someone could be kind enough to tell me where it is I would appreciate it. Also are there any tricks as to how to cool down the video chip of this laptop? Thanks.

The cpu is under the heatpipe that has the four screws holding it down (to the left of the memory).
1) Remove the 4x screws that hold the heatpipe onto the cpu
2) Remove the 2x screws that hold the fan in place.
3) Move the fan out and lay it off to the side (you do not have to remove the fan header)
4) gently pry up with a small flat head screw driver to get the heatspreader off the cpu.
5) Use a exacto knife or razer blade to scrape the crappy thermo pad off the heatspreader base. (It's ok if you scratch it a little, it's not like it is going to cost you 5F in temps to have a few little scratches in it)
6) **THIS IS THE DANGEROUS PART** Amd cpu's are known for not working if the die edges have been chiped. DO NOT USE ANYTHING OTHER THAN YOUR FINGER NAIL TO SCRAPE THE THERMAL PAD OFF THE CPU!!! Take your time, and do it softly at first in one spot pushing more and more each stroke until you see the die. Then you know how much you have to take off. Do this until you have a pile of thermal compound on the die, then tip the laptop upside down (hold onto the fan) over the garabe and use compressed air to blow it off the die. Do this process until you have it free of that crapped factory applied thermal compound. (Do not worry if you get some of it on other components, it is non conductive and will not pose any saftey issues for other components.
7) Apply whatever you want to use (Artic Silver 2,3,4,ect...)
8) Reverse steps 1-3
9) boot it up to see if everything works
As for the video card, I left the thermal pad in place because the die size and performance of the integrated video chip did not require any additiona cooling. Not to mention, if you remove the pad, the head pipe will not make conact with the die surface and it will overheat and or cook off the pcb

hmm i would use rubbing alcohol pads to whipe it off but i guess the fingernail works too but ugh getting it off must suck >.<

I'm a certified tech. I've dealt with oem thermal compound before. It's not something that you can just use a solution on. Especially when it's in tight quarters. On a desktop cpu sure, the die is larger and you have a IHS. But on these chips it's better to just use your finger nail. or a piece of plastic that is small. Just take your time with it and it comes off very easily. Don't rush through it.
