Hi, my wife js receive her new Compal Hel80 from PN, wondering how to disable the touchpad.
I would've troubleshooted for her but we're countries apart. I tried googling but came up with nothing. Help is appreciated thanks.

It may be a function key combination. Fn+F7, maybe?

if you open up the touchpad properties, is there a "Device Select" tab? I know that for my Alps pad on the i6000 there is an option to disable to touchpad when there is another USB Pointing Device present.

Don't know for sure, but I would think you could go to System (Windows Key + Pause/Break) click the hardware tab, click the device manager. Look under probably "Mice and Pointing Devices" for anything that says "Synaptic" and right-click on it and select disable.

the only thing she can with the touchpad properties remotely close to disabling is uninstalling it.

My sager also does not have a disable button, but fn+f1 combination does the trick.

Weird that the laptop did not have a manual when it arrived.

I asked PowerNotebooks about this. They indicated that the only way to disable it was to disable it in the device manager. :(

There is an option in the control applet to disable while typing though. You could try that.
