Hello,
I was wondering if there are a "how to" or a "step-by-step" instrucctions to upgrade the memory on my laptop Averatec 2100?
Thanks!

Sounds like this one is one of Averatec's screwups for memory upgrades. I have a 7100 which has a nice easy to remove trapdoor on the bottom for access and upgrading memory. Even has a nice explanation section for doing it in their user manual. This on the other hand seems to setup like an English maiden in a chastity belt.
It's pretty clear from the pictures in http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=59329&highlight=Averatec+2100
that they didn't want you get in the guts (note Warranty Void sticker over one of the screw holes).
The bottom looks like it has several screws to remove carefully noting any different sized ones if there, including the one under the sticker. I presume it's no longer under warranty so this shouldn't be a concern. You will then need to carefully remove the two memory modules which are 256Meg PC2700 types. You can replace them with PC2700 1Gig modules. You'll need to replace both more then likely.
Since I haven't opened one and can't give you exacts on this, maybe someone else that has one and has done this may be able to give you further help. It's usually not rocket science once you gain access to the memory area. Just keep good notes as you take it apart and then work carefully with the memory modules and connector sockets. Don't ever force very much on them. They should click in and out.
If you're feeling unsure at any stage, stop, put it back together and take it to the Geek Squad or your favorite computer guy.
