    This can sound as a newbie question, but I can't managed how to start Windows in safe mode.

    When I turn on my machine it loads, show F2 for SETUP and F12 for BOOT and them loads Windows logo and show the login screen. Thats all!

    My BIOS is 105B and the SO is Windows XP SP2.

    Thanks.

    Have you tried F8?

    press F8 continuously after the initial BIOS load up finishes... then if it worked, a list to 'boot normally', 'boot safe mode' etc. etc. should pop up. You computer may beep angrily at you.

    I am pulling this from memory, and haven't done it in a while, so correct me if im wrong please.

    F8 is the key you're looking for.

    You can also change your boot.ini to look something like this:

    [boot loader]
    timeout=10
    default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
    [operating systems]
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Safe Mode" /safeboot:minimal /sos /bootlog

    It's a nice option when you can't hit F8 quite quickly enough. :)

    Good advice.

    Here are some other ones beside the safe mode with command prompt

    FYI the boot.ini is located in MSCONFIG(start-Run-"msconfig"(without quotes)-boot.ini tab)
