Okay, I got my Blu-Ray drive in the mail this past week along with a new power supply (thanks again for the quick turnaround Mark!) and I just finished changing out the drive. I thought some people might need some help with that, so I took pictures and here's how to do it.

First, unplug your computer and remove the battery. You always want to ensure power is removed before doing any work on your computer. This particular operation probably wouldn't require it, but always recommended just in case.
Next, remove these two screws-

once those are removed, you just need to pull out the drive. You can do that by either prying with a small screwdriver, or just use the manual drive eject to get a hand hold, and just pull the whole unit out.
Manual eject hole (use small screwdriver or paperclip).

Then, if you have to remove the faceplate to use on the other drive, these are the tabs that secure it. Just use a small screwdriver to help release the tabs.

To attach the plate to the other drive, just use the manual eject pressure point to release the slide so you can see what you're doing, then insert the tabs from the faceplate similar to how they were attached to the first drive.

Depending on the drive, the attachment points can be slightly different, but the basic idea will be the same. Just reattach the front plate in a similar manner as it was attached to the first drive.
If anyone has any questions, I'm here.

I would give ya some rep, but it says I need to spread it around first, but I'm sure this will help some people.
Speaking of blu-ray, where did you get your drive and how much was it? Am looking into getting one, but am debating if it is really worth it. -

I've gotten so much help from online forums seems only right that I repay the debt. I got the drive as part of my original order from KillerNotebooks, it was held up for various reasons (not least of which is some specialty work I wanted). Just got it this past week with a replacement power supply. Bottom line, i don't know how much the individual drive would be. I do believe it is a Sony drive though. It's bluray read, DVD/CD write. I didn't think that 500 to write BR was worth it, at least not yet. Although, that's the only format that would allow me to back up my music library on one disk... Or my pictures, for that matter.

Thanks for the write up. Now, if I can only figure out where to buy the BR drive separately for the upgrade...
