Hi I'm thinking about buying this laptop, I currently have a old macbook and this seems like the perfect upgrade for me! But I just want to know how the "Basic" G14b would perform in gaming, here are the specs of it:
    Code:
    14.1" WXGA (1280x800)
    NVIDIA Geforce 9650M GT 512MB
    Intel Core Duo T4300 - 2.1GHz, 800MHz FSB, 1MB Cache
    4096MB DDR2 800MHz PC6400
    250GB SATA hard disk
    Zepto Zpro2 Wireless 300Mbit
I want to be able to play games like Left 4 Dead, COD4/5 on Medium or High with decent frames and maybe if possible GTA IV. Also would it be worth it to upgrade the processor to a Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 - 2,53GHz, 1066MHz FSB, 3MB Cache for £160? Would I see a great improvement in games or not? One last question, in the future would this laptop be able to have the processor and graphics card upgraded easily? Thank You very much! :)

I would go with the intel wireless, maybe the 5100 at the very least... and the 130m is worth the upgrade if you can afford it but the 9650 at 1280x800 will do very well.

The T4300 is okay but the 1mb cache is a killer for high end fun...

L4D will be no prob... :)

Thanks so what would you recommend I upgrade the processor or the graphics card as I can only afford 1! What will I gain from getting the intel wireless card? Faster internet right

The only upgrade for wireless in the UK is
    Intel WiFi 533AN / ANBG / 450Mbit / Centrino 2 (HMC)

    Which is only £26 :)

Intel wireless cards are normally more tolerant of network mismatches. I use the Zpro in my notebook with very little problems, I get a reliable 300Mbps at both home and work. Infact it seems to be more tolerant than my wifes Sony which has an Intel card!!!

About which to upgrade really depends on the game you need to play :) Some games needs a fast CPU and medium GFX to run decent, some need a fast gfx and medium CPU to run decent and some need a fast CPU and fast GFX to run decent.

For the games you want to play i would say a fast CPU, as the 9650M GT is a good card for the money.

Upgrade CPU. There's a lot CPU "based" games nowadays, so a faster CPU will be good. Also for other things than playing :)

Definately go for the better CPU. The extra cache will really be noticeable, not just in games, but in windows too.

The zepto laptops have unique attributes which no other brand provides such as:

-clean looking laptop,no media buttons or useless lights and controls.
-the choice of not having any OS,which i think its great.
    -a almost fully customizable machine

those are aspects that i think it makes zepto one of a kind.

    oh,and the gaming possibilities!

    :)

The one thing I really dislike about the ASUS is the 1366 x 768 resolution. This machine would be comparable to me if I could get it in a 1440 display... I am also not a fan of the moble 4650 gpu.

Just a quick question, does this laptop have the tv tuner built in it or not? As it has the connection on the side.

Mucro is a retailer that also sells Zepto machines. They have added hardware parts to the machines that Zepto have never sold, including the TV tuner. Zepto has never soldt TV tuners with the G14b.
