Ok, I didn't buy an Alienware, but whenever I change the keyboard color on my Nagamaki, I see this...

Why????
-
A guess may be that they ripped of the AW drivers for use on the keyboard? Instead of using their own or the manufacturers.
-
lol.. that's kinda funny Falken!
-
I was thinking maybe there is only one set of drivers, and they are designed with Alienware in mind. I wasn't laughing so much when I noticed it yesterday, my last computer was an Alienware, and with all the difficulties I had trying to get support while I was deployed I'm still not very happy with them!

AW is the only one that offers switching the keyboard colors via software. OCZ whitebook does not have any kind of app that lets you switch in Windows, you have to use the FN + F10 to change the colors.
I am assuming that KN includes the AW software so you can do it in Windows. -
That's what I see when I use Fn+F10. There's nothing I know of in windows, but I'll look. The color thing, while nice, isn't that important to me (don't change color from red, EVER).
-
I think that's part of the AW Command center? Falken, jump in the AW forum and post a screen shot..someone there will tell ya quickly
-
Ok, later, I've gotta run right now. I wonder, I was replacing some drivers the other day from around the net, maybe I got something that way? I definitely don't have the AW command center as far as I know.

I think falken is saying that he can change colour, he just doesn't want to
-

-
not here on this one either
-
nor mine.. it would be a background process running on your rig. Can you do a screen shot of Vista's background processes?
-
lol thats what it says on mine to but thats extremely funny and no it wouldnt be embedded its 3 party software unno where i think AW could sue over it ... if the company did it
-
I have a Nagamaki and it doesn't show on mine on either the xp-pro drive or the vista drive when I change the colors.
-
Face it. You're NB is possessed by an alien.
-
run there coming lol you figure out why it says that yet?
-
check in C:\Program Files\OSD\
That is where the program is located. The images are all in there and I believe that you can edit them however you like as long as the name stays the same. -
I am certain that the computer didn't come this way. I've found that the program is called OSD.exe. I'm not sure how I got it on my computer. I know it wasn't on the computer originally for several reasons.
I played with changing the color a lot when I first got it, and nothing appeared on the screen then. Also, with this program loaded, the only thing it does is put the graphic up, while actually adding a delay in the process of changing the key color, something else that didn't use to happen.
I think I updated drivers from somewhere, and this got added, but I can't figure out where. Anyone who has Alienware, I recommend disabling this program, because it only slows things down to give you a pretty graphic when you use one of the various hotkeys. I'f I ever figure out where it came from, I'll let you know.
I own an Alienware as well, so I will admit to having browsed Alienware's driver section for the M17 to see if they had any updates, but I don't believe I downloaded any of their stuff as none of it was as new as what I could find elsewhere. This program was obviously bundled with something I downloaded since purchasing, that's what I get for not using trusted sources! I'll keep looking to figure out the source.
I didn't buy an Alienware, but...
