    Hi, a little story.

I don't get it! I read some posts here about people running 6615WD and Vista with no problems..
3 weeks ago I purchased a 6615WD with Vista Business preinstalled and 2 gig RAM.
On day one I had problems with the computer freezing and going to Blue Screen Of Death when putting the machine in stand-by or hibernate - not all the time, but 1 out of 5 times maybe. After one more day of testing and reinstalling Vista and flashing the Bios with the newest one and trying different drivers and talking to Zepto support, I returned the machine a got a new one which had the exact same problems... :( .. So After talking a little with Zepto, finally they told me that the problem was known, and there were no fix for it. They had a bios update coming, which should fix the problem, but could not tell me when it was ready... The second computer I got also freezes in windows for no apparent reason, and I use my computer for professional work, so this was a no-go for me, so I have just returned it, and will get my money back (but not my wasted time! ) ... Now I’m looking for something else to replace my old Zepto 4200.

To get back to my subject. I don't get it... Are you guys (using 6615WD + Vista) not using Stand-by or Hibernate, or freezing up in Windows? And have you never experienced these problems? ... And if not... I’m confused... And I can't get any clear answer from Zepto support...
    What do you guys think?

    Br

I use the the standby option sometimes. But not that offen.
I have never really notised any freezing of the OS, or any BSOD's runnng vista.
But i have notised that the fan control is a bit dodgy efter comming out of standby, it runs at max untill i reboot.

I mostly use my 6615 for gaming, web, music, movies, encoding ect. all things that need interaction. So standby isnt used much.

Regarding the BSOD, i wonder if you have gotten defective hardware?
Or perhaps are the current bios versions used buggy as hell.
I bought my 6615 in the beginning of september of last year, and i never bothered upgrading the bios.. Everything worked fine, so i let i be.
My bios version is : Z1.07 KBC SYM7_030

    Cheers

I had horrific instability problems with my new laptop and Vista - it's a 6214w but the problem might be caused by the same thing - dodgy ram..

I was experiencing lots of blue screens, installers not working due to corrupt files, sleep/hibernate crashing, the list goes on...

So I downloaded the windows memory diagnostic tool from here and it showed up lots and lots of errors :(

After talking with Zepto and testing each module seperately I have found that it is just one module (out of 2) that's bad and am now running just the good one with no problems whatsoever whilst they sort out a replacement for me :D

I would guess that a lot of the clever features in Vista like superfetch use a lot more ram in more critical ways so it's more likely to fall over if something isn't quite right!

Thats makes sense. Its strange that so many zeppies go out with mem errors. Zepto is suppose to test every computer that is assembled before they ship.

I only have a problem with my slot-in drive.

I use one of the standby features, I have no clue to what the difference is between the two, but the one I use does not cause the system to freeze.

I know there are a lot of early adopters out there running Vista with no problems--but I personally want to give it more time to become more fully integrated into everything before I jump into that pool. Combine Vista's current state (with drivers and combatibility issues) with new BIOSes and you're definitely going to run into a few problems here and there.

Standby and particularly hibernate have always been a bit of a buggy area for Windows. I imagine it's much of the same with Vista.

I'm sorry to hear you ended up returning your Zepto though. Hope you end up with something you like.

About Stand-by and Hibernate. Stand-by just turns off disk, fan and the processor; buy keeps power on the memory. The latter is saving the memory to disk, and turns off the computer completely.

Anyway - In the process, I downloaded the test tool Zepto uses themselves from ftp.zepto.dk, and I tried it a few times on both machines. On the first one, I got errors, but not on the second one. So if Zepto uses the same program for testing, that explains why they send out buggy computers.
They properly didn’t want to have me calling them any more, so they told me that the model did not work with Vista, and made me return the ting..... :)Anyway! Sounds like the combination works for some guys. So I'm still confused about what they told me..

But thanks for the answers! :)

I user hibernate all the time, because most of the time, I work with about 10 or 15 different programs and explorer / IE windows open. So I don't have to power them all up the next day. Only reboots once a week or so.. So I can't live without! :)

I had problems with Vista freezing aswell. I had to change a setting in the BIOS called operating system from Win XP to Other.

Hmm Thats interesting - I did notice that setting in BIOS - but did not try to change it. Was it just luck, or did Zepto recommend to do that?

I just saw that setting in the BIOS and figured it was worth a shot, and it worked.

I've tried it too. It didn't seem to have much of an effect for me. But my laptop has started to blue screen when I'm using standby or hibernate - not every time but sometimes, I dunno if it has to do with the BIOS setting, but I'll try changing it back to XP to see if it makes any change.
