Hi, I'm attending school. We are required to have to have the higher end laptops (my clear choice being the whitebook). And so the current situation looks like that all builders except Digitalstorms and Cyberpower are out of stock. Is this cyberpower http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/Gamer_Xtreme_M1/ the same as the whitebook? It just seemed odd to me that they would have them so long before everybody else.
I am aware that many people had problems with cyberpower before, but as a student it's going to be very hard for me to survive without a laptop.
All the "smaller" guys who I'd rather buy from anywayshave told me that they won't get them until the end of the month.

-
have u checked xoticpc?
-
They said anywhere from the 15th-30th for the laptop to arrive and enter production. (same situation as the other builders)
But from cyberpower power I can get it shipped out in 3 days. -
All vendors (including Cyberpower and Digital Storm Online) have it on pre-order. I remember when Digital Storm first introduced this model, they said that the ETA was about early August, and due to OCZ postponing the shipment and being unclear with the ship date, DS has constantly changed their posted ETA.

-
How about Digitalstorm then?

No matter who you buy it from, you won't get it soon - it still has to be released. Neither CyberPower nor Digital Storm have it yet.

As far as I know, OCZ still doesn't have any dates set in stone, so take them all with a grain of salt.

And I prefer my salt from OCZ
EDIT: Just called OCZ. Still no confirmed date - everything is still just an estimate at the moment. I was told they were having trouble with Windows XP drivers. -
I thin OCZ has a confirmed date...

Is that straight from you guys or from a 3'rd party?

Our 3 Year Parts and Labor Warranty is through us.

i am wondering what kind of school and major required their students to have high end "gaming" laptops? I understand engineering might want you to have CAD cards such as FX 3700M; but crossfire 3870? what can you possibility do with them besides gaming? If you are thinking they work faster than 8600M GT or HD3650 in solidworks or 3dmax, you are wrong.

I don't know where you got your information from, Rob, but I called at 7pm and they told me they don't have a date set in stone yet. The 25th is still an ETA - just like every other date they've given and missed.

Obviously we were not the only system builder given this information:

This was posted by another member back a few........... -
The bottom line is nothing is EVER set in stone to deliver on a certain date lol. Until it is in the UPS or Fed ex system. However with test systems out its a pretty good idea. And I believe RK computers was one of the few distrubutors on the list taken directly from OCZ's website and Mark at Killernotebooks AKA Guruofgaming forum actually has one in his hands. Its a pretty good market indicator.
Just my opinion. -

There are lots of game programs at colleges, and some game "trade schools" too -- Fullsail in Florida and Guildhall in Texas.
I'm unconvinced that they'd require this level of laptop though, generally they provide their own computers afaik. -
But after doing a little research and making a few calls today, and from your reply:
Your warranty is through you, correct?
I called a few other resellers, the extended warranty they provide is through the manufacture (OCZ).
I think i would be a little more secure with this option... -
dont buy a system like that for school, you need to get something which is good and reliable. By no means are any of the arima chassis any good, they tend to crack and just have poor construction. You are better off getting a dell precision or a lenovo workstation laptop, because they will have the quadro graphics options and will have a much higher build quality than the arima chassis will.

I take my laptop to and form work everyday, opening and closing the lid 4-5 times/day. The hinge is still sturdy and I haven't noticed any wear on it so far. -

I need this notebook, now..
