After looking between the 9262 and the Nagamaki (ocz whitebook) I think that I'm going to buy the Nagamaki from www.killernotebooks.com (if they aren't sold out yet). They seem to really push their hardware to the limit, and I like that.![]()
I'm just trying to nail down the processor: can't decide between the x9100 and the qx9300.
-
Well the X9100 you can overclock and it's stock speeds are already faster than the QX9300 so I would go with that one + it's much cheaper.
The only thing I'm not sure if the QX offers any significant performance for gaming but I would still go with the X9100. -
You do realize the X9100 is dual core and the QX9300 is quad-core?
-
Yeah but the X9100 is a great proven over-clocker the QX9300 I'm not so sure.
But hey if you want to go balls out go for the Quad, the only thing I would worry about is the heat the Quad would put out in such a thin chasis and if you want to do Raid that just adds to it, hopefully the cooling system is up to snuff.
Omega I would call/E-mail Mark and ask him directly, he knows much more about this laptop since he actually has his hands on one + he always tells it like it is. -
I am going to call him today.
-
Well I just got off the phone with Mark and got my Nagamaki ordered. Now comes the hard part...THE WAIT Wink
Specs:
x9100
Dual ATI 3870s
4 GB Ram
2-320 GB HDDS Raid 0
8x DL DVD Burner
Wireless A/G/N w/Bluetooth
Vista 64 Business
$3349.00
I know you guys probably don't care, but I'M EXCITED -
i care how much do you spend for it!
-
$3349 (Updated it)
-
Just out of curiosity what did Mark say concerning the X9100 vs the QX9300?
And congratulations man, when are you going to get it? -
im planning on getting the zalman nc-2000, people said it was great with the alienware m9750 but is there proof, if u guys got any pictures with m9750 and zalman nc-2000 let me know thanks
-
I asked Mark about a cooler for this machine and he said he really thought it wasn't needed considering how cool it runs (even overclocked). If i decide otherwise I will definitely get the zalman 2000.
When are you supposed to get your system phoduma?
I told him about the apps/games I'd be using. Mainly HD video editing (Sony Vegas 8.0 which is only optimized for dual core) and games like Crysis etc. so he said that the QX9300 would be a waste and that I'd get better performance out of the X9100 (which i can OC to 3.33
) Should get it around Oct 6th-7th.
I'll post all the proper benchmarks don't worry.
So IKAS V you still enjoying your behemoth?
-
shipping eta 26-29th from xoticpc, so hopefully by the end of next week i should have in hand, i cant wait no longer if theres another delay ill just go crazy
-
Go ahead and go crazy =) Just a hunch
-
What kind of shipping did you choose?
I picked 3-6 days for shipping, hoping for shipment by end of next week as well.
But mostly likely will receive it the week after that.
-
hey hey hey. did i just read somewhere up there that the OCZ runs COOL while being OVERCLOCKED?
this is so cool man.. common OmegaATL do a review on it!
oh and gratz btw..
and if the OCZ looks good, most of my friends are prob gonna order it end year.. already 3 of them are considering laptops after knowing that laptops might not necessarily mean a comprimise in power
-
I will once I get it, don't worry. It will probably be Oct 6th or so.
In regards to it running cool while overclocked look at the benchmark thread over at GOG. It has a lot of good info. -
cool. can't wait for it
-
Yes I still love my NP-9262, it might not be as sexy and sleek as the OCZ but it get's the job done, the only thing I wish it did have was that awesome looking backlit keyboard, and does Mark at KIN have a turbo button to overclock the CPU or anything like that on the OCZ?
To tell you the truth If I didn't get this notebook I would have definetely got the OCZ, If I had to guess it will probably put up the same numbers as 9800M GT's.
I did not know anything about the OCZ when I ordered my Sager, all I was hearing were rumors and who new exactly how it would match up with other gaming notebooks and as far as I can tell pretty **** good.
You can't go wrong either way IMO. -
He told me that he was working on the turbo button for the Nagamaki, so I guess he will give it to his customers when it is finished...that and the core optimizing program.
-
yeah me too. the ocz when its fully done up by K|N is just so incredible.. esp the way ati has made their crossfire a much cheaper solution to nvidia's SLi.. perfect killer combo.
-
When are you getting it OmegaATL?
I'm looking forward to some benchmarks!
-
I'm hoping to get it around Monday the 6th, but I heard from Mark that he isn't receiving the chassis until this Tuesday the 30th.
Originally, he was supposed to get them on Thursday the 25th...so we will see how this affects the shipping/arrival time. -
Jesuso Christo.....the wait !!
-
talk about it, did u preorder?
-
I'm getting ready to....been waffling with the Sagers and this one....this one is looking better all the time
-
Personally I'm most likely going to wait until the 4850/4870 mobile cards start coming out, but when they do it should lay waste to any other gaming laptop out there!
-
I have heard rumors that they will be available in the next 6-9 months (I hope)
-
aka some time next year
-
Has anyone seen the recent benchmarks on the 4000s? If memory serves correct they don't seem to be much of an upgrade. (Having some trouble finding the original post)
-
4000 benchmark
It's about 3/4 of the way down. -
the shipping date keeps on getting pushed back, meanwhile the price keeps on getting jacked up. What started out as a promising notebook at a reasonable price have become unreasonably pricey. oh well, back to waiting for the Clevo D901C to come out with a eSATA and HDMI ports.
-
It looks like they have availability per their update page:
-
A single Mobility 3870 scores about 9200 3Dmarks, and a single Mobility 4850 scores 10000+ 3Dmarks. If you consider that the 3870 is the top of the line card for the M88 platform, and the 4850 will be second to the 4870 on thr M98 platform, it may be a well worth upgrade in crossfire and if ATi keeps the prices down as they did with the Mobility 3870s.
-
Say what you will about K|N, Mark and his crew always deliver. They not only talk the talk but they walk the walk, every time. Yes, action does speak louder than words. Now all I's gotta do is dig under the couch for some spare cash.
He's done did now! K|N is offering 300GB HDD @ 10,000 RPM. Can you imagine how obscenely awesome it is to have dual 300GB's @ 10,000 RPM? This is almost sinful! -
Now imagine the RAID 256GB Samsung SSDs coming later this year.
I think I've decided on the Nagamaki from K N
