I have a Compal IFL90 for about a year now, and now every once in a while, I can hear Windows either disconnect or detect a USB device (that ding ding tone). However, I have nothing in any of my USB ports!

I notice when I close the lid or open the lid, I would hear that noise too, but that's not it. I hear the noise while in the middle of using the laptop (usually when I move the laptop, but sometimes when on the table sitting still).

Vista does not show me any device being connected or disconnected, but there was this one time that it warned me that the USB device connected could run faster if connected to a USB 2.0 port (weird...). Clicking on the message just shows me a bunch of USB ports, but no actual device.

    What gives?
