    Hi!

I noticed that my IFL90 freezes from time to time - for 5-10 secs all programs do not repond, mouse does not move and generally laptop does not repond (additionally, when playing music, the annoying sound occurs). After that everything is ok and all programs run as they did before. I read in other forum that this might be caused by a "parking of the hard drive head" (hope this is a proper tech. word), but no real solution has been posted. Whats interesting these freezes do not happen while playing games or performing benchmarks.

Maybe any of you has met such a problem and knows how to solve it? Any prooves that the newest BIOS (1.16; 1.15 or 1.14) may fix this issue?

My specs: T7700, 4 GB RAM, 160 GB Seagate 7200 rpm, 8600 GT 512MB, windows xp sp2 pro.

Thanks in advance for your help

As far I know this problem is WinXP-specific. Anyway I don't want to install vista , cause my soft is still for xp only. Btw Compal tech. support recommended to me flashing BIOS to the 1.16 version, they even gave me a password - so far no freezes, maybe they've been fixed.
