If anyone is interested, I just noticed that Compal posted a new bios to their website today. There are also some updates for a few drivers as well.

I'm going to give it a try. What happened to 1.11?
Also, which drivers are new? -
I have no idea what happened to 111. It says there was one in the release notes for 112 though. Also you have to go through the drivers to figure out which ones are new. VGA they now have at 156.10; LAN at 10.46.0.0; WLAN 11.1.1.13; WOW V/A at 1.0.0.7. Those are the main differences from the Version 2 driver disc that I have found.

yeah i saw that. Its stupid that the folder says it was modified 5/20, but the files in the folder are 7/20...
Thanks for the links though, I was just getting ready to reformat. I hope this new bios lets windows estimate the battery time remaining. -
Is it possible to WinFlash it?
Anyone tried without booting from a floppy disk?
Thanks -
just flashed witch CD,
nothing new,
me waiting when the battery begin to show remaining time, not the percentages -
which are the differences ?

yeah nothing different for me either. Oh well.
Anyone know when they started shipping G0 stepping mobiles? I'd like to get my hands on one. -
which are the differences with G0 stepping? it will be the some processors of the t7100,t7500,t7000 family with go stepping? or new cpus?
-
custom90gt Doc Mod Super Moderator
that I don't know. The G0 stepping allows for a higher max operating temperature and often lower power consumption.
-
Has anyone tried flashing newest bios yet?
-
custom90gt Doc Mod Super Moderator
I did, nothing different that I've noticed (see previous post for change log)
-
updated the bios to the new version 1.12.
The VGA card bios is also updated, default sttings with the 101.34 driver installed improves.
Tested this with 3Dmark06.
The battery seems to be charged up to 86% when I slected it ti charge to 75%, issue maybe. -
custom90gt Doc Mod Super Moderator
have you downloaded the new smartbattery from compal's website? It may fix your issue.
-
Selecting 75% of battery power will still charge the battery up to 87% -
RePaRaQu you said by updating bios to 1.12 you have gained higher score in 3dmark06? with everything untouched?
-
yep default drivers installed, no overclocking.
The gpu cant be overclocked, the mem settings and the gpu settings are locked.
This is with BIOS version 1.12 and with the Nvidia driver version 156.10 -
I downloaded from the Bizcom site and there is no .rom file in the zip. And what is this utility that is included with it? ACPI?
-
You can overclock GPU but with stock driver and 15x.xx driver for some. I didn't have overclock-bility before formatted HD and re-installed OS then was able to overclock with stock driver along using RivaTuner 2.03
-
what stock driver which version.
The version installed on my machine is 156.10 this is running with default settings and improved my benchmark.
That's the reason for adjusting the clock settings and the mem settings. -
oh yeah I'm wondering the same too. RePaRaQu did you flash the bios 1.12 with no .rom file inside?
-
yep
the issue is only when i select to charge to 75%.
When you select 50% it's working fine.
It seems to be related to the option selct with the 75% charge mode. -
so whats the process for flashing the bios?
-
never mind, figured it out. wow that was a pain in the ass. took me like 15 minutes to find out that burning it as a cd image was an alternative. then like another hour to figure out that you had to rename that one file to BIOS.wph or whatever.
Good thing it came with instructions! -
the quick way is to download the HP USB tool to make a usb stick bootable.
Then download a win98se bootdisk image, load this on a floppy disk.
Use the HP tool to format the memstick and make it bootable by selecting to get the bootfile from the floppy disk.
Copy the BIOS folder you downloaded from the website on to the stick.
Reboot machine press F12 and select USB bootable device.
It will boot from the stick open the folder run the iflxxxx.exe file
The flashing is started automatic.
Done
1x floppy drive (USB) or older machine
1x floppy
1x USB stick 512 min
1x HP USB boot tool
1x bios update file (IFL00XXX)
some time -
what the hell, my 3dmark score went DOWN. i was at around 3400 before, and I just benchmarked it and got a 3180. Maybe just an unlucky run?
-
how to i make it boot from the usb? i download the usb format hp and boot files formated and stuff. where in the bios to i change to make the usb boot first?
-
On powering on laptop press F12 and select Boot from USB device or USB Harddrive (make sure you have usb stick insert in usb slot first).
-
ah pew i flash the bios and it won't boot to windows. i had to download the bios from bizcom link and reflash and now everthing is working
-
What OS installed on your laptop kodo?
-
win xp pro
-
Oh, upon flashing to bios 1.12 AHCI setting will be set on as default. You need to turn it off in order to boot in windows xp.
You can turn off AHCI in bios. -
AHCI and the IFL90 are still causing for some issue.
also in the latest BIOS folder 1.12 the option to enable and disable option is delivered with the BIOS update file, after the unzip a directory should be in there with the option to enable and disable.
Please check. -
Also anybody experienced BSoD when Skype starts? -
For me it's not completely out of overclocking opportunity. I can overclock with forceware 101.18 stock driver and 158.19 driver with 1.12 bios and rivatuner 2.05.
But I've found the performance of forceware 163.71 driver to be really good it's close to performance after overclocking with older driver in some games I play, needless to say, I'm using forceware 163.71 now. -
Thanks. Unfortunately flashing back to 1.09 didn't change anything. Do you able to overclock with those drivers in XP or Vista?
I surely hope Nvidia will make overclocking possible on all drivers in the future once again.
My stock driver disk only features Vista drivers, so crappy. -
I overclock with forceware 101.18 and 158.19 driver in Windows XP Pro SP2.
-
Hmmm, didn't found no 101.18, 158.19 downloaded from laptop2go, but unfortunately no luck, RivaTunner steal has no influence. And after tweaking the option in the driver tab also not operates properly, after pressing test button some error come out. Can you please pinpoint where to download those drivers?
-
how can I upgrate the bios by CD
I haven't got external floppy reader, so I would like to do it by a CD
could someone write it down how can I do this? -
Thats weird... a friend of mine tried to flash his BIOS with 112, but it says that the checksum failed. He downloaded from Comapl and Bizcom and both say the same. He currently has 110.

158.19
http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=13667
sorry it should be 101.08 -
Sorry for the offtop, but I tried both of those versions (with complete uninstall) and neither of them let me overclock.
Maybe there are some special tweaks to add (asides coolbits registry tweak)?
I tried adjusting clock settings with RivaTunner 2.05 ant ATITool, but the monitor kept showing no changes, performance was also locked. -
Dirt I think the best way is to try all forceware driver on laptopvideo2go.com as I did the and only found 158.19 to be overclockable.
I'm not entirely sure why some people able to overclock with 163.xx driver and some have luck to overclock with different 158.xx drivers but seems it's random draw of luck. -
Perhaps, I already did that, maybe 2 or 3 drivers left. I can't find 158.18 thought, can you upload it somewhere?
I slowly begin to panic here. -
woops excuse me my typo it should be 158.19 darn I'm so sleepy right now lol
I know it frustrated me after trying out all drivers on laptopvideo2go.com only 1 driver to be overclockable, not to mention the pain in going through testing all drivers... -
Well now I tried all of them, killed half of my day and found no lucky driver for me.
The last hope is that Unwinder comes out with some tweak to enable overclocking in later versions of RivaTuner. -
support 45nm Penryn CPU may be?
-
custom90gt Doc Mod Super Moderator
that would be nice, but intel seems to have a santa rosa refresh planned that supports 45nm stuff. I do still hope my IFL90 will support Penryn though, I'd be very excited.
