okay good luck.
-
is there another way to do this...i remember some guy with a chinese avator posted an update for the bios update b4 this
-
Yeah. I posted it with source from BIZCOM right after it was posted there and was removed by Sysop as precaution (Will not support Penryn CPUs with IFL90/NP2090). I suppose I can post it again... and if not, please delete the post, thanks.
1. Unzip and extract the ISO image, use Nero to burn the ISO to your CD or CD/RW.
2. Then boot up your PC and press F12 for boot selector if you do not have CD drive as higher priority than your Hard Drive.
3. Confirm that you have AC Adapter hooked up, or Full Battery Charge.
4. Done.

Is there any way to release more advanced features in this BIOS? Or in any of the BIOS for this laptop? I just find it extremely frustrating that I have ZERO control over the laptop...the ONLY configurable items in the BIOS are boot order and HDD mode (AHCI).
Does anyone know of a way to unlock more advanced features? Help would be GREATLY appreciated! -
"Phoenix BIOS edit pro v.2" utility. This is how add futures to you BIOS. And offcourse if you know how to edit/modify/wright BIOS.
-
i googled it....and it links me back to this thread....do u have a link -
I noticed Phoenix BIOS actually have this program for flashing under Windows.
It's called WinPhlash.
http://www.eltan.com/biosopt.htm
http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=7033
This should be the most convenient method for all of you guys. So check it out. -
phoenix should be ashamed. the bios sucks. it's slow to post, and is very elementary. i wish they would step it up.
edit: ok, then. compal- get with it! -
It's not Phoenix's problem, it's Compal.
-
More advanced options are not possible in the BIOS for the Compal.
It;s just for the default stuff and that's it.
By default you setup your BIOS once and leave it, so why would you have advanced options.
What is it for. -
this is what it shows it's suppose to be like >
JFTO2116
command.com
IO.SYS
MSDOS.SYS
but I have this >
IFTOOREL
JFTO2116
JFTO2116.WPH
PHLASH16
I don't know why it didn't open up like the commands above? -
I can not verify this because i dont have Windows XP.
The issue isn't clear to me.
Format the usb tick as explained in the document.
Then download the zip file extract the zip file and then copy the file to the usb stick.
Further i can not assist you because of the missing os I am using Vista. -
Hi-I understand, I did exactly as it said starting from the fat32 format and so on but my files came up different when unzipped, I know when I look into the flash file it's deffinitly a flash inside, maybe someone else can verifi this sometime today. -
I need to check to before i can tell you if it's okay to flash.
So search around maybe you will find something, i will do me research. -
I'm trying to do this in vista and got upto the bios , I formatted the usb drive to the FAT32 and downloaded the bios and unzipped them (4)but I can't put them all in one folder , I looked in documents and they don't look like they have the right extension
-
what do you mean with the extensions, can you make a screen shot.
-
the 4 files look like this , as same as before in xp
IFTOREEL
JFTO2116
JFTO2116.WPH
PHLASH16 -
for some reason the files are or not showing the extension or the zip file you downloaded is damaged.
The files must look like this.
IFT00REl.TXT
JFT02116.BAT
JFT02116.WPH
PHLASH16.EXE
try to adjust the folder view to show the file extension.
Then verify the files again.
When everything is looking okay start he flash procedure.
When your at the prompt just type in JFT02116, it should then run the JFT02116.BAT file and the Flash for the BIOS should start automaic...... -
You can download the latest BIOS files from my website.
I created an BootAble CD with the following bios files on it 1.14, 1.15 and 1.16.
Just turn on the notebook put in the cd and then when the notebook is started from cd let it run some sec.
Then type in d: open the folder with the bios you would like to use and type in the name of the file with the extension *.bat the BIOS flash will start automatic......
my website is http://www.r-verbeek-1.speedlinq.nl -
this is what they look like,is this right! -
It's okay just use the iso i uploaded to my website.
and then run the iso.
open d: at the command line and open the folder with the new BIOS.
Then run the xxxxxxx.bat file just type the name without the bat extension.
My adivise is also to update from version 1.13 to 1.14 to 1.15 and then the final 1.16.
goodluck -
I downloaded it, burnt it,shut down and restarted with cd booting but the cd loads or something loads without having a chance to type D:, something maybe due to DHCP but not sure!
-
I had the same issue. Just press eject and the boot screen give some error, put the CD back in again and press enter. Then the CD boots ok. Change to drive d: and run the bat files inside the BIOS folders.
-
correct, for some reason the post is locked for several seconds because of HW detection.
It keeps checking the I/O but it doesn't run any further.
So far when the issue is ther the first time turn off the notebook and turn it back on.
press f12 to start from cd, then leave it untill it's ready. -
I am testing the tool WinPhlash version 1.6.5.9, for some reason it's not working because windows reports an error.
any help would be nice?
The file which is causing the error is PhlashNT.sys something with no rigths. -
Thanks In advance -
I know why mine didn't show like yours ( the extensions), it was because I was using winzip wizard and not classic to show the extensions of the files one shows them the other dosn't , but I still havn't gotten there yet still trying to get this to work I have this screen shot showing my flash drive and my zip folder , I still havn't gotten to
this is what it shows it's suppose to be like > as you said!
JFTO2116
command.com
IO.SYS
MSDOS.SYS
this is what it shows it's suppose to be like >

Rep Power: 2 Re: BIOS Reset on IFL90
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok. I have a FL90 and had to reset (restore my BIOS).
You WILL need a USB Floppy Drive, yes.. Those 1.44 MB diskette drive...
CMOS/BIOS Recovery:
1 - Download CrisisTools from the link above;
2 - Download the latest BIOS for FL90;
3 - Download Floppy Image (in English) http://woundedmoon.org/win32/floppyimage152.zip
3 - Unpack everything;
4 - Open Floppy Image, on Write Floppy tab, click Browse and select the .img file that came in FWCrisisTools.zip
5 - Insert the disk in drive and click Start
6 - When it finishes, delete bios.wph on the floppy
7 - Open the BIOS uncompressed files and you will find 2 files. One is .ROM another is .WPH, use the .WPH (for FL90).
8 - Copy it to floppy and rename it to bios.wph
9 - Remove the battery from you notebook, power and everything else
10 - Hold Fn+B
11 - Connect the USB Floppy to your notebook
12 - Connect the power cord
13 - Press power
14 - When the floppy light start to blink, release Fn+B
15 - After 5-10 seconds it will start blinking again and will keep blinking for 2 minutes
16 - Wait like 5 minutes. Your notebook should power down alone. If it doesn't remove the power, plug it again and try to turn it on
This should help everybody who had the same problem as me.

i am really sorry about my multiple posts guys !!
but guess what
i repaired my laptop and now it runs vista okay !!
so i found a right bios file
it used bios version B.01
this is a pre release version !!
you wont find this version anywhere except me !!
if anyone needs this bios file pls contact me
i will be more than happy to provide this bios file to you !!
This is a great website !!
cheers for notebookreview.com -
The latest BIOS is 1.16 though. Anyway, if it works continue using but my feeling is that you will encounter bumps on the road eventually, because new BIOS releases solve issues from previous BIOS's.
-
ya i see what you mean wirelessman
but i just updated to 105 version
and guess what "it doesnt boot again !!"
same situation again !!
i got my laptop like 6 months ago !! actually my laptop is the prototype !!
its not the released version from compal !!
so it probably wont support the latest bios
thanks for your help !! -
Then go back to the BIOS that works with. I didn't know you had an special mobo.
The only issue working with an older BIOS version is that it will be isolated from new peripherals, so if you buy the latest HDD, it might not work well with your current BIOS, this is just an hypothetical example. -
its not a special mobile
its just the early prototype, after which compal made changes in the motherboard designs !!
the latest bios like 1.2 to 1.6, are designed for newer versions !! my laptop cannot work on it !!
well i am not gonna upgrade this notebook, this notebook just drives my hdtv !!
i got skulltrail and bonetrail to take care of other business !! -
Hahahaha, good sense of humor, get yourself the new xx92.
-
ummmm
soo what is xx92 ? -
The new compal with the new penryn cpu, I think is called jfl92 or something.
