    So here goes:

I bought a compal IFL90 (awesome machine) with installed Vista OS.
After working with it for a couple of hours, i found out i didn't like it...
So i decided to downgrade vista to xp.

    I have a problem and a question:

    question:

Do i have to remove vista first or can i delete vista completely during xp install?

    problem:

When i boot from xp-cd all goes well, but it can't find a harddisk. I know this is because my HD is SATA and i must have drivers for SATA XP.
Where do i download this SATA driver for XP?
Do i have to slipstream other XP drivers for compal onto the installation disk (like drivers for audio etc.) or can i do this later?

Once this is solved i hope i don't have any problems... :)

    Thx in advance

You can format and delete/create partitions from within XP install.
You can install XP disabling AHCI in BIOS, that will make XP boot with your SATA drive. Depending on how old your XP install files are you might encounter some BSOD's. I had to look for a newer XP disk to install mine.
    Good luck!!

    What are BSOD's?

My Xp is with integreted XPservice Pack, so it's quite up-to-date...

And do i have to enable AHCI when xp is installed?

BSOD = Blue Screen Of Death....
Try it enabled first, if it doesn't work then disable it.

When facing a similar issue, I had to create an XP slipstream disc with SP2 on it... once I did that the pci-e and SATA issues I was seeing during install disappeared.
